Smile Sub box for new Impreza Wagons and the rest of my system...

My stereo was finally installed in my WRX today!!!

Since I noticed a few people were wondering how to get a box in the back of a wagon without sacrificing usability much, I thought I'd share what we did to mine. Basically, it's a down firing box with two 12s right up against the rear seat with a quick disconnect so as to make it easily removable.

Sorry, no pictures 'til my digicam is fixed - couple days probably.

For anyone who might be interested in what I have:
(don't remember all the model numbers right now...)
Kenwood Excelon 815 HU
6.5" Diamond Hex mounted in stock location in front
5.25" Diamond Hex also in stock location in the back (Barely fit!)
PPI 4x75 powering above speakers
2 12" Kicker Solobaric subs in a downfiring box arrangement
Soundstream 1002 500x2 powering subs
This system is AMAZINGLY crisp and clear.

Previously, all of this was in my 4runner where it didn't sound nearly as powerful as it does in the WRX - though it was still plenty loud!!

Default AARRRRRGG!!!

Pictures will have to wait - the transfer cable for my digicam broke!
I'll see if I can borrow a reader tomorrow or the next day and get pics up.

Donnie - I am not sure why you asked your first question, but the sound I am looking for is crisp and clear with deep thunderous bass. This setup delivers exactly that. And the Kickers are the round style - I have squares in my CRX.

BlackWaggin' - Yes, the hexes fit perfectly in the stock locations - but if they were a millimeter bigger they would not fit.

Landon,

We're all dyin' to check out the sub box setup I'm not sure I want 2x12" but at least 2x10" or 1x12" sub is my plan. I'm also interested to see where/how you fit the two amps.

I'm not willing to give up my spare tire- I can't always be in cellphone reach of SOA.
