Default 1998 Legacy GT gear ratios

Where can I find gear ratios for my 5MT equipped 1998 BK GT? Also specs for the 2000 Legacy L? Wanna compare new car (BK) with old car's (BE) gearing.

Nobody? Someone has to know... After searching NASIOC and the internet at large, I was not able to find this information. I've been searching on and off for 3 weeks now.

Heavens! Nobody answered your question in the 5 hours you waited?!

www.cars101.com has all the specs.
And in the Transmission & Driveline Forum one of the threads of note is a "Gear Ratio Reference Thread" that has gear ratios for pretty much anything you could ever want to know. The 2.5GT tranny is the same as the 2.5RS tranny.

was your L an automatic? or 5mt?

but, fyi most N/A pre BL/BP GT boxes are 4.11 final drive and L 5MT boxes were 3.911. if you were wondering why your BK pulls faster than the BE, thats why.

I know the BK has 4.11 and the BE had 3.9, the BK has a higher redline, but I wanted to know specifics about how first gears compare, second gears compare, etc.

For having a shorter final drive, gears feel longer in the BK. Like, first gear tops out at 6,000 rpm (note, not redline) higher than it would have in my BE at 6,000 rpm.

Fifth gear, on the other hand, is TOTALLY different. The BE topped out around 150 in 5th, my BK will top out around 135 in fifth gear.

And, yes, both cars are 5 MT.

Are the 05+ LGT's still 4.11? I really want a rear LSD for my BK.

Cars101 didn't have the first, second, third, etc gear ratios, wihch is what I'm looking for, not final drive. I've been a bit frustrated over this, believe me. I wouldn't have bumped it except I thought I had posted it 2 days ago, not yesterday.

Hmmm, looks like he's pared back the older pages, because I know the info used to be there on cars101.com. Anyway, the 2.5GT gear ratios are the same as the 2.5RS gear ratios, which are in that gear ratio reference thread in the Tranny forum.

The 2000 L, though, is another story. I believe that the 2.5RS gear ratios are the same up until the new body style in '02, but I don't know if the Legacy gear ratios changed in '00 when that body style changed. I did find one listing at www.usedcars.com or something like that, but I don't know if the ratios it listed were correct or not. It showed the newer 3.54 1st gear (rather than the older 3.54 1st), but then 2nd gear was the same old 2.11. I have an Excel file with a bunch of tranny info in it that I compiled to compare various options, and I've never seen the 3.45/2.11 combo, so it seems strange to me that Subaru would've done that.

I imagine someone around here (or on one of the other Legacy sites, which I don't bother to visit) must have the 2000 FSM downloaded from the Subaru techinfo site - that'll have what you need.

Where is the "Gear Ratio Reference Thread"? Couldn't find it. I want to get and LSD for my BK6, trying to figure out what will swap. I did find the LSD list so I am trying to be resourceful.
