Question CAI = Run Lean? Injen CAI? Spt CAI?

I'm getting a CAI for my 98 Legacy GT 2.2. I had intended to pick up the Injen CAI made for the "01" RS ( 99-01 certain parts including CAI would fit my car). After posting a post regaurding this CIA brand and fit, I heard a lot of talk of my car potentially running lean without properly tuning the car ahead of time. I had one person tell me that the SPT CIA would be a better application because I would have a signifficiently less noise in comparison to the Injen CIA and I wouldn't have to pre-tune the car to avoid it running lean. Fill me in if you can. Thanks.

I cant answer your question with any kind of authority, but I will say this...

I have a SPT intake on my WRX and have thrown 2 CELs for running lean, and I am running a 93 octane Cobb stage2 map which supposedly has built in support for a Cobb or SPT intake so.....

spt doesn't make a cai. the only cai i know of that really leans out AFRs is the injen.

harman motive tested the k&n typhoon, aem cai, and injen cai...and only the injen required maf calibration due to it leaning AFRs by 1.3pts. my aps cai made me run rich.

i have no idea how any of these results apply to the NA EJ25 motor.
