Default SimpleTune Updates:

3/20/09

Suppose I should update this, haha. I ditched the C code. I simply despised the GUI framework I was working with. Suppose I'll add that package to the list of half completed code I have

So, I went back to Java. Got some decent features like ROM compare to visualize what maps are different between 2 same series ROMs. Auto column and row table scaling is also in place, so when you change a row/col value, all cells in that row/col are interpolated to the best guess correct value.

A pic:

Oh, and I changed the MAF like tables to actually be readable No more scrolling to the right.

---------------------------

Well, just thought I'd post a few pics to show what I was up to. I'll keep updates here.

2/11/08:
----------
I setup a website @ http://www.simpletune.org There are forums there for Mac, Linux and Windows for SimpleTune. I'm not trying to re-do Enginuity or Nasioc there. I just figured since I'm the only person targeting all major platforms natively, dedicated forums might be nice to collect data in one place. Plus, one place for me will save me time And I'm not trying to make money off this. My time could be better spent elsewhere.

Once again, I'm one guy. I'll do the best I can!

1/30/08:
----------
- C/C++ (fast)
- Compiles on Linux, Mac, Windows and WinCE
- I need to find a nice balance and feature set that compliments every supported GUI platform.
- Rom editing obviously not done, but its very close as you can see
- Not sure if/when I'll release the source. Its a pet project currently.
- After Rom editing is completed, I'll shoot for some basic logging.
- Maybe some ramtune after that.
- Probably another month before there is something for people to play with.
- If I get REALLY bored with school and my impending marriage, then I might have some fun with flashing... but ECUFlash has done such a good job, maybe not

The whole purpose of this project was for me to learn something outside of the Java world. As the name suggests, this won't be feature rich. I'm trying to support the features I use on a daily basis. Others might find it too lacking once I release some binaries. But hey, I'm only 1 guy.

Here are some proof pics

* YES, the legal notice is dorky. I needed a test string. lol *

seriously, though, your app looks clean.

God knows we need another ROM editor in the Subaru world.

Thanks, its what I'm shooting for. Well, its more time and resource inflicted more than anything else.

Your comment can be taken a number of ways lol. But yes, there is an element of reinventing the wheel here. Best way to work towards something more useful for the general tuner though, its taught me allot so far.

BTW, I might need to snag a ROM modded by you and its untouched version. I've been IDAing here for a while, and would like explore through comparison how things are done.

Glad you're working on this! It'd be great to have a mac option that works fully. MMMM... logging without Fusion+XP

Well, we would need drivers for the tactrix cable on whichever WinCE device to do anything more than rom editing.

Haha, well, not because of you

I'm having a good time coding something that performs though. Its all part of my grand plan to help support realtime tuning. Ramtune.. what ever its called. C/C++ seems a more appropriate language for this sort of thing.

Actually, since the iPhone basically uses mac os, compiling this for that platform might be easy.

Oh, and I grew up in Anchorage. Huffman/Hanshew then Service High school.

I can write drivers for all OS's.

The source is already open anyway for the drivers.

I could rip out a WinCe driver in 4 hours.

If someone wants to donate an iphone and iphone ddk, I will write the drivers. Actually I might be able to find something in FBSD as it is really FBSD.
