Default Only Borla?

I was thinking about getting some new header's for my 2001 OBS (2.2L, single port), and I've been doing some searching and have only been able to find Borla header's. Not that it's bad a thing because it seem's a lot of people here seem to have them but I'm just wondering if there were any other's I could go with. Also if the Borla's happen to my only option, how would you rate them in terms of sound, power, etc. Thanks.

As of this moment, Borla is th eonly option.

I am still working on making Borla replicas since Borla has stopped production of EJ22 single port headers some time back.

Single port headers interest thread

Borla (borla replicas) isn't the ONLY option but its the cheapest if you go with the replicas and it will give the subaru boxer rumble that many are after. I havnt seen a dyno for any Borla style headers but a couple HP and couple lbs or toque is what the talk seems to say. Your other options are EL headers made by MRT, OBX or TWE. They will range from $400 (OBX) to about $1100 (TWE). Performance gains will be better with the EL headers and i know the TWE's have made as much as 15 more lbs of torque. I have some TWE's and they sound great with a full stromung setup (HFC, midpipe with resonator, and dual Tip muffler) And the TWEs (probably the others, too) are tuned to give midrange torque so you dont have to wind your motor up when you want the power. Do a little research here on the forum, chk out 25rs.com and even Google/Ebay for prices. Hope that helps.

you do know he has a 2.2l with single port so those headers wont fit because they are for dual port like all 2.5l subaru engines

i dont know... err, I didn't know but now I do. I thought the outbacks always had the 2.5. And THAT is why it says "Scooby Newbie" under my name. BUT... TWE will make you a set of custom headers and being single port and only requiring half the tubing i wouldnt be suprised if they came out to be about the same price.

Just wondering where you got your TWE's. I couldn't find their products on any of their 4 dealer sites. I e-mailed them a few days ago about ordering but haven't got a reply.
