If you spend anytime in Puerto Limon, look up Oscar Brown's tour agency. He's a great guy and will give you a good sampling of what the area has to offer (rain forest, banana plantations, local cuisine). There seem to be a lot of American and Europeans that retire there, but there's a huge culture difference (too much in my opinion).
