He offers a patching service for like $15 bucks, why the hell would you jump straight to an AP? From what I hear, Cobb can't get LC working anyway...

Or you could try reading the thread which answers most questions and what people do wrong trying to install the patch. 99% of the time its poor reading comprehension. Read the instructions fully and follow them to a "T". And what's with all the frigg'n drama? You don't have to have LC. You car will function just fine with out it. And as elevenpoint7five said,Cobb doesn't even have it for the 2.0L WRX's..............

try living without launch control on a torque limiting center dif. a ford tempo would smoke me off the line.

the instructions dont help at all. if they did i wouldnt have asked for help.
when i open the batch file this is what it says.

i just asked for help. if thats grounds to get flamed you need a life. its not my fault that my reading comprehension is 0 and i had to read each line 40 times. but i know i did it right. i dont understand how it works. anyone who can better understand and break it down barney style. i need assistance. thanks.

Does your map file name contain any spaces? If yes, remove them (or simply rename it "tune.hex").

It has nothing to do with spaces. The file needs to be 192kb as clearly stated in the instructions. If you can't figure out how to convert tours from 160 to 192, email me the rom you would like patched and I will convert it and patch it for you. Elevenpoint7five@gmail.com

It has to be named as your ROM calibration ID. It clearly says this in the instructions.

Oh that's right! I first recieved an error when I had spaces, then another when I forgot to convert it to 192kb the second time I patched another map.

there is a rebuttable presumption made that if you cannot successfully patch your ROM code without extensive handholding you don't have sufficient skills to be reflashing and/or tuning your vehicle.

think of it as a child-proof cap.

In all fairness, he never does tell anyone how to convert the ROM.

But I still agree with you!

I've been trying to read through here to find my answer(s) but alas I have gotten no where.

I have a JDM A4SDA01B ecu from a version 7 STi. There is sadly no patch available and I was trying to figure out if I could use a patch from a different JDM version 7 ecu. I don't believe that it is possible, but I'm hoping someone can tell me otherwise. I was trying to find the answer without having to ask but I've reached the end of my searching abilities and asking for help. I appreciate any help I can get fellas.

Here's a screen shot of the metadata just to make sure that there isn't any confusion on my explanation.

i doubt it, on my 240 i had to jumper the fuel pump to constant on. the fpr is supposed to return excess fuel to the tank right? and the fuel pump cools itself off the fuel pumping through it so it's not likely to overheat unless you run the tank dry.

Those JDM ECUs are spooky. I ended up with some sort of one-off ECU too.. Sucks..

My nearest ECUTEK dealer charged a pretty penny for a custom tune with user tuning enabled, launch control, and FFS.. But after the last minute tuning work he did, he overwrote all the flags and I didn't notice until after the car was back home. He said he tried a few ECUs, found one that was "close", loaded everything into it and shipped it over to me. After going through the trouble of swapping ECUs myself, the car rejected it and now he's saying he can't afford to keep guessing and I have to pay to drive back to see him.

Pretty sad since I didn't "want" a strange one-off ECU and wasn't aware I'd be stuck with one.

I doubt it's cutting out the fuel pump. When I had a normal WRX ECU I had this installed and the cut is way too on/off for it to be the fuel pump? I would think it'd be much more likely to cycle out the injectors first.

Just my non-mechanical observation.
