Sorry to hear this...I've been watching this thread for some time now seeing that you have the same quality standards which I would utilize in a system install.

However I recently came across this and now I'm reconsidering the materials and amount which I'll be using in my own vehicle:
http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com...index.cgi?p=pr

GL with getting out of the deep end, I've felt the shark bites recently as well.

Thanks brotha... Means a lot... It'll be some seriously SAD days if I have to start selling..

Yeah, the SDS.. GREAT info.. and info I would follow myself it I was doing it all over again..

It's somewhat funny, that WHOLE site was being re-designed/changed as I was doing all of my deadening.. The old SDS site, sited the differences in a lot of the different deadeners... Just before I finished up, the site completely changed into what you see today..

AFA me going completely overboard, well, sponsorship helps with that a lot.. YES, I received products from Second Skin...
Which is a lot of the reason why you don't see me in many of the sound deadening threads anymore.. Seems some think my opinion on the subject is "tainted/biased" by my sponsorship... lol...

What REALLY sucks, is I'm SO close...

Well, close to having sound.. The horns aren't mounted (traditional tweeters) and the 8's aren't installed (Pioneer 6.5's in now)

I really just need my amprack cut out.. I tried and my skills with a jigsaw failed me... lol... I'm trying to have the parts laser cut... not going well..

Hey Aaron:

Thanks for documenting all this - makes it a lot less scary for the rest of us.

I just bought a bunch of Damplifier and LLP (+ SS spray glue) and plan on beginning in the rear of my hatchback - it seems easier to deal with technically. I'm trying to reduce cabin noise for comfort; if the SQ goes up, that's fine too. One layer each planned.

The LLP is pretty damn thick - are there places I should anticipate this will cause me grief (i.e. under the carpet, etc)?

Was there a reason you choose not to use the SS spray glue to apply the LLP?

Did your LLP go down in small pieces because it doesn't conform to curved surfaces?

Did the LLP help?

Did the undercoating help?

Will I find salvation through sound deadening my car?

thanx!

Lol..

LLP IS pretty thick, replace carpet padding with it, it's also pretty soft to step on...

Areas it will cause problrems are only really if you put it behind panels,.. everything else conformes pretty well, accept for the places where you see smaller chunks..

It's best to do the LLP in as continuous of a sheet as possible.. otherwise the sound will find it's way around...

I only have the front half of the car LLP'ed and I can tell where the break line is behind the front seats.. I didn't do my doors either, I need some regular MLV without any extra foam for that.. (come fall/winter I'll dig into that)

Do yourself a favor and visit Sound Deadener Showdown and start reading... you don't NEED to do what I did to get great results, you just need to understand the system.. and in the system, LLP wins over Damplifier..

Damn dude.. this is too much work for me.. You know you scare all those "weight reduction" guys to death with this.

On another note, what would you recommend for engine bay? Would you even do the engine bay? say thermal heat reflection as well as sound barrier?

I've got my own opinions on the weight reduction guys....

My car will get where I want it to go PLENTY fast.. I like the ability to have a decent conversation while going down the highway...

I love that my doors sound like a Mercedes closing, rather than a screen door...

I have no doubt that your doors are about 100x better than mine, but I really wish I could compare your completely over the top, perfect doors to my Dynamat job. I recently did my trunk, and was thinking to myself as I was cutting out pieces - Where is that line that you cross when you go over the top, and all the extra work you're doing hardly provides any more sound deadening?

For reference, I use a Dynamat door kit off Amazon.com, and since it came with 4 sheets, I used 2 per (obviously). I never really overlapped any of it, except maybe a TAD bit around the speaker area, I just made it disappear in other small areas of the door. I got the outerskin, and the outside of the inner door panel (What I could) and the inside of the door panel.

The door closing sound, and sound quality shot through the roof - and that was with my quick, first time ever messing with Dynamat job; and all stock '07 STi stereo stuff. I can only imagine what that sounds like.

The biggest thing you're missing is the closed cell foam when it comes to keeping out road noise. The Dynamat dampens vibrations in the panels but it doesn't keep outside noise out.

Actually, CCF does little to keep out noise... It's the MLV that "blocks" and the CDL mat that "deadens" the CCF acts as a decoupler between the 2 and helps with reflections.. that's really about it for the foam..

FYI..

any idea on subwoofer possible putting dents in a trunk. I just the car cleaned up at a body shop and everything was taken care of dimple wise and i noticed the other day to evenly space inward facing dimples on the upper part of my trunk. I have 2 diamond audio 12s in my car and the trunk does rattle but the only thing i can thing of is A a small dump truck backed into me or the subwoofers caused the dent any ideas if it is the subs?

Not likely, but I have seen trunk lids that looked like a fat ladies arse from the bass... That was in a Regal with 4x12's rear facing and basically the trunk sealed off, so 90% of the force was being seen by the trunk lid... (Dillrod ripped 3 latches FROM the BODY)

So yeah, it "Can" be destructive...

Sounds like someone dropped something on your car.... CSI that shizzy...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i've been looking for a solution like this for the trunk!! thank you for the idea!

any special tips tricks, or just pour it in there? i'm planning to make a MDF/fiberglass panel to mount on there as well for a screen/other stuff and to help further deaden the trunk against my 2 12"s lol
