News Windshields again

I apologize for not thinking of this before but I want to throw a warning out to all "Rex" owners in the Richmond, VA area. If you read my previous post about "windshield replacement gone bad", the shop that violated my car is Ace Autoglass. According to their owner, their standard practice on all replacements is to screw stops at the base of the windshield with sheet metal screws. If this company replaced your windshield - I advise that you remove your cowl panel and check for foreign objects ASAP. Also, anyone in the area know anything about Burleigh's Body Shop?

I replaced Autoglass for 18 years before coming to Autofab Race Cars. I never screwed a stop on the bottom of a Subaru. I have on many other cars but never on any Suburu. It depends on the the size of the windshield and experience of the installer. I've been here for almost 2 years. I hadn't screwed a stop on a vehicle for at least 5-6 years before that.

question then... would a combination of rust converter (just in case), etching primer, standard gray auto primer, plugging and coating the topside and underside with underbody sealant and topcoating the surface with touch-up paint solve the problem. And I'm having yet another windshield installed (minus the stops) at which time I'm gonna ask the tech to smear a little polyurethane sealant on top of all. My concern is the underside but again I used a combo of rust converter and etching primer before the sealant. or how did you seal "back in the day" - or did you need to?
