I'm looking to finding an exhaust set up for my 96 outback. I've done countless searching and I've come to the conclusion that a Stromung exhaust is a no go due to the salty winter roads. my next thing I've come across is the Borla Boomer series. specifically I have my eye on a this one.
![]() but i would like opinions from people who have dealt with them. I dont want a raspy weedwacker sounding can. soo ya or nah people? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku I've also come across some magnaflow universal mufflers. would borla or magnaflow be better than the other and why?

yea why would the stainless stromung be any worse off than any other exhaust?? I had one on mine for a while and i had zero problems with it....even being by the beach for a while....I took it off when I sold it and it looked as good as new. get yourself a stromung catback/borla header/randomtech hi flow and you will be good as gold

i just talked to stromung a week or so ago and they said they make only stainless stuff now because i asked about the coated mufflers cuz they look nice being flat black but the guy said they dropped that cuz of low demand and now only offer stainless (for the subaru's at least)

that borla does look nice, not too much volume though, could be quite loud.

yea.. I have had my stromung sing tip for over a year and it is all stainless.. very high quality.. perfect sound level.. I have it with a borla replica header.. love it.. I reccomend stromung.. if you live in the west.. go direct as they ship from california.. if you are in the east.. go boxer4racing.. they ship from the east coast.. I lived in AZ when I got mine.. stromung shipped it from OC, California for 8 dollars

I'm looking at the stromung website and this is what i see
Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS Part # Description Price SI8988 Dual 76mm Rear Muffler 355.00 SI8981 Single 89mm Rear Muffler 339.00 SS8981 Stainless Steel Rear Muffler 405.00 SI598 Intermediate Pipe (57 mm) 125.00 **For Off-Road / Racing Use Only - SI598TP 57mm Impreza Track Pipe 159.00 Subaru Legacy Part # Description Price SO8981 Rear Muffler (Outback Wagon) 345.00 SLO8981 Rear Muffler (GT Wagon) 345.00 SLG8981 Rear Muffler (GT Sedan) 345.00 Subaru Forester Part # Description Price SF8981 Single 89mm Rear Muffler now this worries me because it specifically notes that the impreza's system is stainless steel. their website has been out of date for like over a year and a half.. prices have gone up a bit.. but not much.. still very much in line for the quality product with the rest of the market.. also.. I believe that they QUIT selling the non stainless stuff over a year ago.. it was a matte black finish and not a great seller.. I would def. call them.. they are very nice..

stromung is great. it sounds amazing and looks subtle. i have it on for 6 months and have loved it every minute. check boxer4racing.com for accurate prices. the XA is more for imprezas, or anyone who wants a "sporty" look. the regular songle tip looks good. the dual tip looks great on wrx's and sti's. ur good with any of the 3 types. i have only seen the regular single and dual tips and can't say about the XA.

they do make stuff for the outback, but maybe only the newer gen. call em and find out instead of asking and pouting on here... and yes FL is stupid. Almost everyone who lives here is stupid. The rednecks here are grade A 100% white trash. It makes me embarrassed to be a human being. The stromung prices have gone up a few $, but not much. chk www.boxer4racing.com for prices... they are fair and you might find cheaper but they give the warranty and great service (you wont need a warranty with Stromung, though) and you can go direct though Stromung too, they are great rto talk to if you have any ?'s and such. guys just like us.

they are in Cali i think so adjust your call times to when they would be around. I called them more than once after 5 pm their time and they answered, never called them early though. Prolly not around on the weekends.
