I have an 06 Steel Gray Metallic (I think they called it Urban Gray Metallic for 07) WRX and am looking to swap for an RS hood of the same color. Straight trade.

I agree about the 06/07 2.5I hoods being steel. Actually, aluminum is much more expensive than steel and it has been that way for the past several years. If it's cost savings that Subaru was after, they did not switch to aluminum.

Actually, we are all partially correct. From a bunch of searching I did this morning I've found the following:
All the USDM 2006 2.5i hood are aluminum. I'm am unsure about other markets. At some point in the 2007 model year, Subaru switched from aluminum to steel for the 2.5i hood because of a sharp increase in aluminum costing. I can believe this as we felt strong pressure to cease work on aluminum components where I work; the prices were nuts. This has been proven on some late 2007 2.5i's with the magnet trick, but I'm still looking for the poster. I remember reading this once. It is unclear when they switched and people say that it is just the hood from a different country's model. Also, the steel hoods are heavy, but if I recall, the difference in weight is about 17lbs. |

Call Certifit here in Phoenix. I know they have the 02-03 RS hoods for $140. Call to see if they have one for the 06-07
