So far so good with SUBARU CITY in Edmonton,

Both rear passengers windows have been replaced due to Scratches and realign also was done. My whole lights /signals switch and relay were replaced, it became loose and lights kept on flickering , and last but not least, driver side headlight inside cast fell apart, whole unit was changed...car is 36K bought in Jan 2000... What is next?
The mechanic told me that i should replace both rear motor for the window before the warranty is over..
A klunk sound is made when it reaches the bottom...

Anyoneelse?

Peace out,
Feng

Had my clutch and flywheel replaced, windows replaced, window actuators twice and wheel bearings twice.
I just cracked 60K.

Persistance was the key with the clutch, the rest was no problem.

I had a nightmare with SOC with my Forester - guess that is what you get with the first year model. I had all kinds of problems with my clutch and wheel bearings that were known problems and they wouldnt help me a bit. Seems the dealer did a bunch of work wrong on the car and stuff ended up breaking...I called subaru and they wanted nothing to do with it...I even had the dealer go to bat for me and no dice. The dealer out east in NS was a big help but boy was SOC hard to deal with.

Oakville Subaru destroyed my engine ('99 TS)when they did Timing Belt replacedment. Broke a bolt, repaired it with a heli-coil and didn't say a word. Blet tensioner bolt failed under load and the valves were all smashed. The timing belt tensioner broke throught the engine cover. I called the dealer and they said "F*** off, your over waranty, sucker". I called SOC and they(Reid Thorburn) told me that the dealers are franchised and he refused to do ANYTHING. He gave me phone numbers for "Regional Supervisors". No one ever returned my calls. Your dealer answers to no-one and your technicians are Subaru Cetrtified??? They still work by the hour and you pay when they are in a hurry. BTW every time my car went for a major service there it had to be towed. Oil filter cross threaded, tech forgot to reconnect coolant hose, etc.
I am sure not all dealers are created equal, but they are all equally unacountable. If you have a problem with SOC, good luck.

I think most warranty issues relate directly to the dealership. I've seen a number of things wrong with cars, they were taken to Lachute and simply "fixed"

I'm not saying Rejean will fix anything you broke but he, unlike some others will be fair about stuff and will tell you with a great deal of accuracy if your problem was caused by some mod.

Also, he's the sort of guy would would rebuild your engine himself if need be if one of his guys fuxored it up.

I agree with d00f. I had a bad clutch at 37,000Km. Went to one dealer in Ottawa and got the almighty run around... Their service manager told me to call Reid Thorburn, I did, he got upset that I was told to do that. After a 3 weeks of phone calls and LOADS of BS, I had pretty much given up. Then my car started to pop out of fifth gear while cruising, Now I was Pissed! So I took my car to Ogilive this time and got fixed up under warranty, Pretty much no questions asked. No doubt it helped that I got my 48,000km maintenance done at the same time. Replaced the Main Shaft Nut, New clutch assembly, flywheel machined, they even found and fixed problem I never knew I had (Bad Plug Wire) Guess I know who will and will not be getting my business in the future

The Management of dealerships really need to learn that taking care of exisiting customers will help secure future sales and potenially earn new customers.

Hey tekriter, I noticed you are from Kitchener, I'm about to purchase a 2003 RS from Gemini in Kitchener, have you had any experience with that dealer?

Was the Oakville dealer located near Burlington by the QEW? I went there a while back.. all the sales people seemed to be arrogant snots and very condesending. Turned me off Sub's for a long time until I tried a different dealership (Gemini).

My first Subaru TS, a 2002 in BRP was bought from Marino's fine cars. Within 600 kms and after a few times in the shop for an oil leak, it was discovered that the block was cracked. After some talking with Marino's and SOC, I ended up getting a new 2002 TS in black (I actully like the black better). I didn't have to get angry, I just explained to everyone what I expected to happen and it happened. However, I'm sure if it had 5000 kms on it, there would have been a different story...

In the end I was/am happy. Marino's was great. Unfortunately they are a bit too far for me to go to for small service stuff, so I go to Downtown Subaru.

You guys in Kitchener/Waterloo, my service guy from Downtown moved to your dealer, his name is Emil. He is a good guy, ask for him.

As for Sales experiences, Marino's was in a class by themselves - Shawn Shahid was my guy - very good guy. Other dealers in TO, well their sales guys give new meaning to the word 'stealership'. Especially the autobytel guy in Richmond Hill - what a jerk.

Anybody have the number for Reid Thorburn? or SOC?
I have a bone to pick w/ them. As most ppl know, I have a car that seems to have been build on a Friday before a long weekend. I just had more warranty work done, 14th time in (2years). Now that the warranty will be over this weekend they are giving me some shoddy excuses why they are not covering things. I have no mods at all.

Richard,

Gemini has been really good to me. They did the teardown on my TS engine when it blew up here in KW. They did the labour for free. The first thing they said was "Let me make a few phone calls and see what we can do for you". The first thing Oakville did when I called them was call up my service record, tell me that I didn't get the whole service done (no brake bleed), so it was my fault and to get lost. Then they called Reid Thorburn and told him my car was race modified (muffler). When I found the Heli-coil in the tensioner bracket the service guys at Gemini called all the Techs out, right there, and told them that this is what happens when techs get lazy and use air tools instead of torque wrenches. I deal with Tim or Paul, both good guys. As far as Sales, they are only Okay. I went there first, but ended up buying my RS from Missisauga.

Daminanq:

Reid Thorburn: (905)568 4959, Fax: (905) 568-8087

jbolduc@subaru.com used to work but I think they changed it after I posted it for all the folks who had complaints. Good lluck though. I would suggest you call him every day. You are paying hundres of dollars a month. You might as well get something for your money, even if it just making that corporate flunkie listen to you and have to be polite.

Good luck. If you want more info I have pictures, all the documentation and I even still have all the parts.
