Default Finally!!

E-town owners of WRX & 2.5RS.......
Just got an e-mail from a source, a 2nd dealership will be opening on the south side of Edmonton ,34 ave by the Honda dealership, same owner as Subaru city but targetting towards younger & middle-age Rally addict. It will be call Rally Subaru and will target towards more upgrading your vehicle at a decent price...Everyone who bought your car or deals with Subaru city will be getting a letter in the mail. I believe beginning of March...., the #1 mechanic for WRX & Impreza RS will be going there..His name is Paul.... Patience.. will advise accordingly..

peace out,
Feng

Hey Feng,
i've sorta known about this for awhile, and i was going to suggest we have a meeting when it opens up. But i was waiting for a confirmation from them on when it would open and stuff.
Either way, good idea!! Opening day we should have a big meet.
Hopefully this RALLY thing will work out, I need a place for parts and to repair the car when i hit the big one.

I hardly talk to those guys now that i do a lot of my own work. Saves money though!!

That sounds like a great idea. Send me a message when you fellows decide on getting together. I would like to get together with some of you 'senior' Impreza owners. I want to do some minor custom work and would love some ideas and suggestions from you guys.

schlong8,

Oh yeah, you used to work there...well, this should work for them.... nothing out west for Subaru except independent shops who are doing upgrade. At least you know, they put in on your suby and cannot say that upgrade you did mess your car ..bla bla bla..

Does everyone sort of like the idea of having a meet there?

Need input!!!

Peace out,
Feng

Funny how that's right by my shop...
Feng, I'm in for a meet there. I'll roll it there if I have to. The way things have been going, I may have to. Kids, stay on the roads until summer, trust me.

That is Good News...

Just a thought for you guys. I received notification that the NASCC is no longer going to Afilliate with CARS ( Canadian Rally Guys). It might be an opertunity to but together a Northern Alberta Car Club that is Affilated with CARS's (Northern Rally Association NRA ). I am not sure if anyone is interested in setting up this sort of thing . My money is going to the West coast rally guys right now.. I would rather it stay closer to home

Just a thought.

Why not join the Calgary Sports Car Club? Would save you $5 for every rallycross you come to in the future (wink wink nudge nudge). I guess the NASCC shut it down because they weren't getting enough support nor was there enough demand to justify continuing. Big Horn is still a go for this year, but its being organized with Rally West as the sponsoring club. I'm not sure what it takes to become CARS affiliated, but I imagine it isn't very cheap nor terribly easy. I can look into it though (I'm on the executive for the CSCC so getting the info wouldn't take all that much).

Incidentally, Wrxtasy, what are you doing that requires you to have a membership with a CARS affiliated club?

Well ..

First off I want the 500.00 bucks back from subaru... Right now I am competing in TSD rallyies with my 323 GTX ( I was at the first rallycross in Calgary). I actually drove course open at BigHorn 2 years ago. I keep thinking of doing a pro rally but I think I would rather spend the money on making my rex faster.

In general I like Rally and if I am going to pay for a membership I would rather it go to an organization that is affilated.

I am disappointed with the NASCC's descion I think that there is a huge potential for growth of rally in canada ( 70+ cars in t-bird the most ever I think) To dump this right when things seem on the up swing seems weird... Thier must be some politics going on or something.

The CSCC is CARS affiliated, has been for many years.

I didn't even know the NASCC was CARS affliated!! Geez, i don't even think they held any TSD's to begin with. If they did, then they barely got the word out. The only big TSD i can think of in edmonton and surrounding area is the Alfa Romero Club TSD.

I think that's a major problem for them, was advertising. Only one HOTLINE, that was usually never updated in advance to events (well in my experience anyways) and their website never got updated.
The only event that i know of that they organized is the driving school in September, and i don't know how good it was, and maybe the WCMA series races at the base. That's it. U barely see any sign of the members are any of autoX in St. Albert or any event in Calgary. I think i did see ONE impreza w/ an NASCC sticker, but i dont' evenknow who the guy is. Haven't seen him around in the club or in town.

If i could attend more of the CSCC events, then i would join. But being a fulltime student, AND living in edmonton i can't make it down as much as i would like too. Some of the dates are soo dang invconvenient for out-of-towners.

Getting back on to topic.....

Happy news to my ears that there will finally be a Subaru dealership that opens it arms to the enthusiast. A long time coming.

I remain hopefully optomistic that they will not gouge us for performance parts like Subaru City has been doing for as long as I've owned a Subaru.

Cheers,
MB

Markus,

Same thought as you do.

Subaru City always persuade us to buy STi parts from them with a "good" price

Hope the new Subaru dealer will not do the same thing to us.

And hope if we bring some aftermarket compenents to the new dealer to install and they will not say " oh, that will void the warranty.........
" or "oh, we don't do any installation if that is not buy from us...." or " we don't do any illegal modifications to the cars....." or " we will charge a lot to do the installation...." etc.......

when i was at subaru city in the summer i asked them if they could get oem 20mm swaybars. their response to me was "NO, we don't deal with sti parts". what? i didn't know they were even sti parts. i did get a guage pod off them for fairly cheap. oh well. subaru city has been pretty fair to me. they fixed my wheel bearings under warranty when i had aftermarket rims on. i don't expect any car dealerships to deal much with aftermarket parts. plus i rather not let the dealer know what i have on my car incase i need to take everything off for some warranty work.
