Default Replacing Stock Headers+Exhaust. Buy New Gaskets?

So I have a set of Cobb Headers + High Flow cat and a Stromung exhaust that I will be taking off my car very soon and replacing with my stock set-up. My simple question is, should I purchase a new set of the gaskets (I believe it's a total of 4 that I would need) or just reuse the one's currently on the car? Thanks
-Ellz

Oh yeah. I have an 02 RS. Sorry for not mentioning that.

It says that you have an MY02 in your car profile, I would change those gaskets. They're pretty cheap and easy to get (Subaru dealer).

When it comes to exhaust systems, you always need to replace the gaskets. Usually when you pull the exhaust apart, it will rip or damage the old gaskets.

Some have gotten away with reusing the gaskets, need to apply a thin layer of copper gasket maker beforehand though.

Of course, with my luck, I got exhaust leaks AFTER I put new gaskets when I did my headers for the 2nd time

YMMV...

Anytime you take apart gaskets from being sealed, you should replace them with new ones.

You should probably order new exhaust studs and nuts for the header to head connection. Those like to rust up and come out in one piece. If you reinstall them like bolts you probably will not get them tight without stripping out the threads in the heads. Plus new hardware is just easier to work with.

Oh and, yes, get new gaskets. Leaks suck.

Thanks. That's a great suggestion. Anyone happened to know what bolt pattern/size they are off hand? I'm going to head over to Scoobymods to find out.

When you take your headers off be sure to use a ton of penitrating oil. Some of those studs/nuts may pop off pretty easily but it is also just as easy to snap them and they you have a huge problem.

If you get the exhaust nuts off without a whole load of work, then spend the 3 dollars and replace the gaskets. Anything that goes through that many hot cold cycles will definitely show wear.
