Default Cherry Hill, Nj. Good place to live... Thinking about moving.

Think about moving to Cherry Hill Nj to take a job. What are the thoughts on the area? Anyone?

I've lived here for a little over a year now. Compared to LI, the traffic is great! It only gets crowded from about 5-6p, but otherwise it's not too congested. And housing is dirt cheap compared to LI, and there are a lot of homes on the market now.

Plus, we just got a Wegmans in the area, which is a huge draw.

any racing tracks near by?

any good "townhouse style" apartment complexes in the area?

There are tons and tons of townhouses in the area. Check realtor.com.

The only problem (from my vantage point) - the property taxes are sky high. But, I don't know how high they are on LI. I would move to Cherry Hill in a heartbeat if I could afford those dang property taxes.

my grandparents used to live in cherry hill. I always loved the area. They moved to a retirement community since then, I still miss going to cherry hill to visit and go for walks in around the cooper river with my grandmother.
my grandfather has passed away since then, RIP.

Regarding property taxes, it's about $6k/yr on a $300k house.

I lived in Merchantville (bordering Cherry Hill) for 18 years, and I really miss a lot of things about the area.

Shopping, restaurants, I could go on and on... If I was in your position, I'd rent someplace and scope out the area. Taxes and home prices can vary quite a bit, as well as characteristics that will influence your perception of the quality of life in a specific community. Quiet Victorian community? New townhome in a bustling suburb? Starter bungalow? Condo? Log cabin on a lake? (Really!) It's all there... give yourself a little time to know the area before you make your choice.

Cherry Hill is a nice place to live if you can deal with the constant traffic. You're very close to many major highways, Philly, an hour drive from the Jersey Shore, and two or so hours from NYC. Cherry Hill is mostly Jewish and Asian peoples and is bordered by a lot of nice towns with some money (Marlton, Moorestown, Voorhees, etc). Overall a nice place to be.
