2000 RS/WRX swap
***SOLD***

Default FS: '00 2.5RS w/swap - Needs Engine - Price NEGOTIABLE

I have a '00 2.5RS for sale that is wired for a WRX swap, but is likely in need of a new engine block. I have the details of the car listed below. Also, I am asking $6k for the car and all my extra parts, wheels, tires, etc. price is negotiable ( I WANT THIS THING GONE!) and should you only want the chassis we can work something out as well.

At minimum one should be able to buy a used USDM long block, swap it in and have a full fledged swap that passes IL emissions. (Mine passed, have records to show) The problem may just be timing belt issue or internal failure and a new shortblock is needed.

Please PM me to set up a time to come see the car. Im available most nights after 7pm and most weekends. The car is located in Chicago near 2900 S. Halsted (near chinatown/ I90/94 or I55) Car would need to be towed

Regarding trades: I am open to trades, but would prefer manual and no domestics. I'm really looking to get an older BMW (e28, E30, E36, E34, etc.)

Sob Story:

So... I originally tried to sell this car while it was running but to no avail. Then as luck had it, a few thousand miles later the engine spun a rod bearing. At this point I learned about the issues with running mobile one in these engines. I then had the block rebuilt by a shop, I swapped it back in and the car ran for a couple minutes before locking up. I have been so busy finishing up a pharmacy residency and its been too cold for me to figure out whats wrong. After spending the money on the rebuild and the time invested, I had had enough. Search my posts (there arent that many) to read about the problem. Therefore, out of frustration and lack of time I simply want this gone and replaced by a different car.

Chassis - '00 Impreza 2.5RS, Blue Ridge Pearl, Cloth interior, 5spd Manual trans; VIN# JF1GM6757YG403256
Engine - '02 Impreza WRX wagon, silver, VIN# JF1GG29612GG633965 (some of the "G"s may be "6"s as I have the number printed really small on an invoice from the place I got it from.)

Current mileage: ~12Xk
Mileage when swap was done: 93k
Mileage on swapped engine at time of swap: 36k

Drivetrain:

"rebuilt" or shall i say "re-destroyed" 2.0L USDM (owned)
Stock turbo
INJEN uppipe
Stock downpipe
Stock cat section
Bosal dual tip exhaust
ACT extreme clutch
New stock disc (old one looked fine but i thought, while im in there)
Primitive racing tech flywheel (~14lbs)
Hndatch's old RS tranny just swapped in ( new Valvoline synpower just added)

Brakes:

WRX rotors/ caliper carriers in front (larger than RS)
Outback Sport H6 rotors/carriers in rear (Much larger than RS)
Hawk HPS in front; EBC greenstuffs in rear

Suspension:

KYB AGXs (still have reciepts for warranty)
Perrin springs (forget the name; 2" drop in front, 1.5 rear; pretty stiff)
Whiteline adjustable rear sway bar (3 settings)

Interior:

In good shape, no rips or tears in seats, dash and panels look good w/a few scratches on some of the door panels

4 gauge pod. One gauge (boost)- the one that comes with the AVO turbo kit for the 2.5RS that looks just like stock white faced gauges
Momo shift knob
ultra short shift kit (forget brand...)
I have the Momo hub and Top Power wheel (id like to keep the wheel if possible because its has sentimental value (i had it in each of my cars so far) I do have the stock wheel/airbag, but kinda destroyed the airbag wiring

Exterior:

Nothing special; front and rear bumper cover with scrapes from parking in city

Wheels:

on the car right now dunlop wintersport m3s with some tread left (1-2 winters)
on RS-six spoke crappily painted gold

extra set of RS six spokes (silver) w/Hankook RS2s (about 5k miles on them; tons of life left)

Misc:

I have a tactrix cable you can have
Extra RS transmission that was just replaced by the one in there now (functions fine, but has grind going from 4th -5th)
Extra low mileage stock turbo, intercooler, exhaust manifold, stock shocks/springs w/50k on them
Other small things and various hardcopies(well not exactly hard copies but the official books) of wiring diagram

In short it seems it does not do well with heat and paired with the bearing material in these engines, its a recipe for disaster. Theres a better technical explanatio, but thats the take home message. Do a search here and you'll find a bunch of people with spun bearings and mobil one. Also, if you go over to bobistheoilguy.com (home of the most knowledgable and insanely serious people when it comes to oil) you can see how mobil one is actually a crap oil.

a lot of people are PMing me telling me they want this and that. I am not currently parting out the car, however, if you want just the rolling chassis w/o engine and trans or something like that PM an offer.

Hmmm... I would definitely entertain that notion.

Its still for sale. I have someone who wants the drivetrain, so please make me an offer on the chassis. I already have 1 offer, but is less than I'm willing to settle for.

If no one wants it I may have to take up Dylan on the offer to fix it.

You have someone interested in the drivetrain or the powertrain? I'm in need of a trans, and if you're parting I may be interested in a few other things.

Wiring?
- I did the wiring myself. The method I used was splicing the wires (solder and shrink wrap) between the ecu and SMJ(or whatever the acronym is for the massive grey connector at the firewall). Everythign I possibly could was wired up, so everything works (OBDII port, emissions, lights, etc.) with the exception of the cruise control, which I elected to delete. This was intended to be my daily driver so I did not take any shortcuts. Since the swap it has worked flawlessly... from an electrical perspective

Price?
- 5k for the car as described above minus the engine and trans (meaning all pertinent swap wiring stays with chassis, crossmember stays, intake/maf stays etc.) I also have an extra set of front half-shafts so you'd get those as well. PM me to talk and I'll send you my phone number if you want to discuss. D/t the lack of real interest up to this point, I was planning on trying to have it fixed and then just start driving it again...

Trans?
-I have an extra RS 5-speed with 120k on it, synchro is bad 4-5, but is fine otherwise (just came out of the car before this mishap) i'll let it go cheap, PM me an offer
