Default insurance and aftermarket parts

ok. we all know aftermarket turbo is illegal and such. what happens if we get into a accident? do we get screwed over by the insurance company because of "illegal aftermarket parts" on our cars? does the same go for suspention mods too?

Don't know how insurance is over there....but here in BC we're covered for mods. Not sure if there's a price limit to mods like there is for sound system (limit of $1000, anything over and you'd have to purchase additional insurance).

BTW, a turbokit isn't "illegal". Might not pass emissions, might throw your warranty out the window, but illegal?

If you have lots of mods, it would be worth it in getting your car appraised..... then you present your appraisal to your insurance company.....

They'll most likely ask you to pay a premium.....

My previous company just told me to keep receipts. Haven't asked my current one yet. Going to get the car appraised first. I've got a crazy number of mods here. Like more than $20k.

say i have a custom turbo kit i built. i bough most of my stuff from fellow i-clubbers. i don't have receipts for anying pretty much. not even my rim and tires, certain vendor didn't give me one but i won't get into that. where can i get my car appraised? in the summer i'm going to have a few extra mods. i would feel better if they were covered for.
