Default How to tell difference between 04/05 STI HID headlights from regular 04/05 headlight

Like the title said, I was just wondering if there's a way to tell the difference in the reflectors that the STI HID headlights have compared to the non HID ones.

Thanks in advance for your response!

*EDIT*
Just to clarify my question, I know how a regular halogen bulb looks like compared to an HID. I just want to know if there's anyway to distiguish between a regular 04/05 light assembly (mainly the low beam reflectors) compared to a STI reflector assembly

Open up the bulb cover and the HID version will have the igniter plug. If you have the headlight out then flip it around and you can see the HID ballast mounted underneath the headlight.

From what they showed me at EDO, there's also this thing that sits in front of the bulb in 04/05 that looks different. It's the thing that helps cut the light

I am assuming you bought a used headlight assembly? Does it have a hole in the back of the housing for the bulbs?

The other thing to check is.... there's a little piece that blocks the light in the middle of the housing. Basically what the guy told me at the shop was (i am going to try and draw this with text):
Quote:
WRX:
< ---- bulb ... bulb emits light and scatters all over the place

STI:
____ ... there's a little flat thing that's part of and above the "<"
<----bulb ... bulb emits light but the top thing cuts the light off appropriately
There's basically this straight thing on the top in the STI housing. Again, this is what he showed me. I don't know if he was talking out of his butt or not.

I'm actually planning to get USDM STI HID headlight assemblies as I have a CADM STI with HID's installed by the previous owner. I don't want a messed up beam pattern blinding othe drivers.

I'm asking about how to differentiate an STI HID reflector assembly from non HID reflector assembly as I don't want to get the wrong ones.

If someone can post pictures of an 04 STI USDM headlight assembly, I can try to compare it with my headlight assembly.

I think all of them have the amber reflector, but what I'm talking about is the low beam reflectors

they're supposed to be more suited for the beam pattern of a HID bulb so that excess glare won't occure.

I'm talking about the 04/05 sti, not 06/07
