I was just curious if anyone on here knows a guy that I met at Kershaw this past weekend that wrecked his STi. He had an 04/05 gt35 STi with a bunch of goodies. We got to talking and he was telling me all about how he was tuned down at Topspeed in Atlanta. He was heading into turn 14 which is a 90 degree right onto the front straight when he went directly off the track and flipped over the guard rail. They airlifted him out; I suppose it was because there is not a hospital that is remotely close.

Anyways, I was just trying to see if he was a member on this site because I couldn't find anything in any of the other sections to see how he was doing.

He is not in any life threatening danger however I believe he has suffered a pretty nasty back injury

As all of you know .. We got great news this morning at the drivers meeting. That he was in good shape and got moved out of the ER, and is doing well.

Thanks to everyone in NASA-SE, CMP EMTs, and workers that took care of him yesterday.

Just got off the phone with Tal and he is in much better spirits today.

He was fitted with a brace and was able to walk on his own and is not experiencing any numbness.

Things are as good as one could possibly hope for

^^ That's good to know. I'm glad he is in as good of shape considering the severity of the accident. His car is completely trashed, so I just hope that he doesn't get screwed by the insurance company now. I have a feeling that he's going to have to part it out and try to make as much as he can that way.

Do insurance companies even offer added coverage for track days? I mean, if I were to call them and say that I was going to the track tomorrow, could I get extended coverage for a day or two or is that totally out of the question?

Holy crap! His brakes must have failed if we went that far off to hit and flip over the guardrail at 14. Do you have any pics of the accident. I'm interested to see what happened.

NO pictures have been posted.... but brake failure has been the noted reason for the accident..

I couldn't believe it and I was there to witness it! It must have been brake failure because he went straight off the track and almost ended up on the damn skid pad near the entrance to the park!

I doubt anyone will come up with decent pictures because he was very far away from the parking lot and behind the guard rail. I really hate to say it, but I am glad that he was in the solo class because I really don't know if the passenger would have made it.

I realy hope ppl have enough class NOT to post pics if they have any. Remember that the new config has you going ALOT fastr though 12 and 13 (or what ever they call it). The guy behind him said that the brake lights came on and the car did'nt slow down at all.

Yeah I am just curious what happened because I have driven the old configuration several times. I went off at 14 once, but I only went in the grass and was able to keep it out of the gravel trap.
