Put your concerns, experiences and troubles concerning actual denied warranty claims in a well written letter and send them to NBC's news show Dateline. With a little public pressure, Subaru of America might not be so quick to blame legitimate warranty repairs on their customers.
Dateline's e-mail is: Dateline@NBC.com

Are you asking someone who has had problems with their warranty to e-mail them, or also for people who feel they don't want to waste their time going to a dealer to get the car looked at to be simply turned down for some BS reason?
If you want both cases, then I'd be glad to send my opinion to Dateline, if you just want people to send them a letter that have had problems, then I'll just sit back and see what happens. |

If you haven't had the car looked at, you don't know how you will be treated by your dealer. I was having a suspension clunk, and they checked everything out and worked on some stuff, even though it was evident that I had an aftermarket suspension. It was covered under warranty.
Give your dealer a chance. At the end of the day, they want to get your business again. If they mess up, then you have full right to complain, but the pre-emptive "I won't go, because they'll just say no" implies that the difficulties of others are nationwide and Subaru-wide. Everybody sits back and waits for someone else to do it, and then it doesn't get done. I know that if I had a warranty issue that was being denied for reasons that I deemed improper, I would keep going up the line until I got a resolution, either a) a concrete explanation about why it was so, or b) the problem fixed. As gtguy states, if you have a problem you need to take it in and get it looked at, hopefully the problem will be found & fixed under warranty as it should. Unfortuneately it appears that many people with known issues (especially transmission issues) are being denied warranty work with similar reasons (i.e. alledged customer abuse, use of non-oem parts, etc).
Dateline is a news agency that deals with fact (ideally). A story about a bunch of people who "think" that they won't be treated right when it comes to warranty service is no where near as powerful as a story about a bunch of customers who were actually denied warranty service for a legitimate problem. As evidenced in this forum, it seems many people with legitimate complaints are being denied service, this is fraud in my opinion. SOA is not living up to the warranty they sold with the car. For as many transmission problems have been posted, clutch shudder, gears failing, syncros failing, center diffs failing, and miscellaneous nuts falling off inside the transmission it would seem a recall should be in order. Or at least a TSB stating that these are known defects that should be repaired. Posting it here gets the attention of some of the 12,000 i-club members, getting it on national television brings it into millions of potential Subaru customers living rooms...which one do you think SOA will stand up and notice? |

After sending the e-mail, send a follow-up letter (it can be the same exact one you e-mailed) to:

They'd probably get a laugh from the "transmission memo". They could run the WRX ads and then show the memo.

ever since i bought the car, on sharp corners it would take out the bearings, i went through like 6 of em at this point, my dealer said that they will no longer fix my car, as my tires are the cause of this. i have duloop 6000, stock size on stock rims, i know there are at least 300 ppl on this board running these same tires with out any problems. The dealer said that the tires provide too much traction, putting too much stress on the bearings, and they were not designed for that... i told the tech that that's a load of BS, and that i want my car fixed... it's been 15k miles, and it still scrapes through corners...
