08 steering wheel on 02+

Does anyone know if the 08 steering wheel will fit/work on the 02+ cars? (specifically the 05 WRX)

I'd LOVE to have the steering wheel controls.

I know if they DID fit, it would take some splicing to make everything else work.

The wheel will bolt on to a 05 WRX and is a perfect fit. Airbag connection is the same but will have an extra conection like all 06-07 Impreza's. You'd just plug into the black connector leaving the orange not connected. Its for the advanced airbags of 06-up that are not needed for your 05. On the 08 the cruise and radio controls are tied into each other but, the cruise uses the same wiring as 05. You should be able to rewire it to work with the 05 cruise system.

What is the diff between the STi and the impreza or WRX one?

The only difference is the STI Logo. Although, I think ALL STI wheels come with radio controls, but only WRX/Imprezas with the upgraded radio package come with them.

I dont see why it wouldnt. I saw an 07 wheel put on a 02. The only thing is the steering wheel controls... who knows.

been wonderin myself since alot was redesigned...nitro don, i take it you fit a 08 wheel in a earlier model. lets some pics!

I am in the process of trying to find a wheel right now. The leads coming off the cruise control are a simple multiplex, but are tied into the CAN bus, so the analog signal coming off the steering wheel is what we will most likely need to steal off the connector.

The most important thing in this is to have an aftermarket radio that has a wired input for a remote on the back of it like an Eclipse, Kenwood, Clarion, Alpine... this way, you can use a PAC SWI-JACK to learn the command off the wheel and it will automatically translate into the radio.

I am somewhat curious about the cruise control resistance differences between the 2 wheels... so I am going to try and find a wrecked 08 before I go ordering a new steering wheel.

I will try to get this done...unfortunately, my WRX sits at the airport more than I drive it because of my traveling for work...

If anyone can locate a 08 WRX wheel from a race car or something, this would help a lot.
