Question '05 STI mods... warranty?

first, i did a few searches before posting to make sure i wasnt reposting and didnt seem to find any.

i was wondering what MODs can be done to the sti without breaking the warranty of the car? if there are any. im interested in changing the MBC, the fuel pump and injectors, and possibly throw on a flow master exhaust... but im guessing the exhaust and pump atleast will void the factory warranty.

does anyone know for a fact what can and cant be done? the dealership told me i could make all kinds of MODs as long as i had them 'professionally' done and kept the paper work... which A) i find hard to believe and B) figured they just wanted me to buy the car.

anyways, would like some input.

Do a search on here and you will discover there is no answer to your question. In simple terms:

1. If you add a modification to your vehicle, it has to be proven that modification caused a failure. Your entire warranty is not voided

2. You can add as many mods to your vehicle you want, but be prepared to pay the consequences if they cause a failure.

3. The modification you add to your vehicle is not longer covered by Subaru
For example, put a cat back exhaust on your car and the exhaust is no longer covered under warranty by Subaru (sounds like common sense, but hey.....)

4. As someone on here once said, "modify your car and modify your warranty"

5. You cannot "break" your warranty...like stated above, the modification has to be proven to cause the failure.

6. There is not one modification you could do to your car that wouldn't have some type of impact on the warranty, if that is the question you are asking

x2!!!!!

Your dealership wants the $$ to put the stuff on for you. Who put it on and paperwork has nothing to do with whether the warranty will cover any problems.

Amusingly enough, the two mods you are worried about at the only ones not likely to cause you problems. Any exhaust mod after the cats is protected. Now, if the new muffler catches fire, Subaru is not going to touch that... As to the fuel pump, it is a replacement of similar form and function. Also protected, unless it bumps up fuel pressure beyond the capabilities of the components, and blows a fuel line, for example. However, and MBC, but it's nature, bypasses all of the safety features of the ECU, and has a good chance of stressing your engine beyond the breaking point. This would not be covered. Changing the injectors, means reprogramming the computer to adjust to them. Since the computer controls everything in the engine, you have a lot of risk for loosing coverage here as well. However, a computer reflash might not be noticed, and so you may not have issues...
Short version... Sales men lie. There is a very wide gray area in which you may or may not be covered depending on who is looking at the car. There are a few things that are legally protected, but it could still result in a fight.
