Default Should I really be that worried?

Should I be completely petrified to go Cobb Stage 2 in a 2006 WRX? There are so many horror stories around here, people blowing up 3rd gear on a 06 WRX at only Stage 2. I realize what really matters is how you drive, but I am at 25k and it still shifts like butter, no launches, no drags, just AutoX, and daily driving.

So, are there really that many people who have blown up 3rd on an 06 WRX at Stage 2 (protuned or untuned)? Or does my mind latch on to the few horror stories I read?

BTW I guess it is only a minor detail but I would be running the CA 91 oct map on an AP, until I got tuned, with a catted DP.

no one can tell you the answer. I don't why so many people (and no offense to you intended) come and ask 'will my motor/tranny hold xxx and xxx?'

The fact is this is all statistics and the sample size is small enough that it doesn't really matter what other people's experiences. From this thread or searching on nasioc you aren't going to get accurate figures to be statistically significant either.

What am i talking about? My point is it's up to you whether you want to take that risk. Period, end of discussion.

that being said i am at >2x oem hp/tq and the stock tranny was fine... for 8 months. Then it broke. I think you should be pretty fine w/ 'stage 2' power which is only like what, 300hp?

Should be fine with some more power. It has more to do with the drivers shifting techniques and how much shockload you put on the gears. An upgraded clutch would be a better canidate for breaking gears. But when running 400hp+ its very hard to not put shockload on the gears, a stage 2 wrx only puts down 220hp - 250hp so i wouldnt worry.
