SOA Blog,

Does Subaru expect former and potential Legacy GT owners to migrate to the 3.6R? Or was the analysis done where the savings in manufacturing costs outweighed the losses in customers?

Ok. So the US version of the Crosstrek roof rails are standard. If we prefer the Crosstrek without them, is there a way to get them removed on purchase?

SOA, on the BRZ page (http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/brz/photos-videos.html) it states "Choose from the many different BRZ models.". There are only 2 models, how can you possibly consider 2 models to be many?

I saw that and read it as "Options" since there's the Premium/Limited Auto/Manual combos. Yes, still not "many" for sure. haha

4 models:
DZA, DZB, DZE, DZF. Premium and Limited, automatic and manual. But yeah, still hard to call that "many".

I wonder what would slot into the DZC and DZD spaces.

*EDIT* I see chanomatic essentially beat me to the punch there.

Hi SOA Blog, while we're on the topic of website confusion, I was wondering if SOA ever has any plans to enhance the "Build Your Own" configurator to intelligently list optional accessories based on what is actually optional for that trim line?

For example, while looking at the Impreza Sport Limited, I'm presented with optional accessories to include "Luggage Compartment Cover" ($150), "Leather Shift Knob - CVT" ($110), and "Ctr Console Sliding Armrest" ($150), not mention a bunch of non-applicable 4-door sedan options.

Beyond the fact that it just plain irks me that I need to study the standard features list before using the Build Your Own configurator with any accuracy, think about all of the potential customers you're scaring away because they think SOA is nickle and diming them on over $400 of accessories that are actually included standard!

At least the "Ctr Console Sliding Armrest" states "(2.0 base)" in the descriptive text; maybe you could do that for the others at the very least.

Sweet! That'll be nice.

Since you're granting my wishes.... For wish #2 I would like the 2013 Impreza Limited Sport (non-nav) to offer a plug-in rear vision camera accessory (like the Forester).

The 4.3" display radio already supports it, and I won't buy a car without one!

SOA VIP doesn't work for WRX any more???

Ok I'm looking for a 2012 wrx pre and been talking to dealers all day. I found the one I want in AZ and he said as of May 1st 2012 SOA VIP pricing will exclude WRX and STI...and BRZ!

Everyone else I spoke too said they would accept it.

Whats up with that? Does he not want to deal with a girl from NJ or VIP or was there a real change?

VIP is pretty useless. You can get invoice or below on any Subaru at anytime (save for right during the Tsunami). Just go in with the invoice number in hand and sit there. Or, if you are afraid they will try to pressure you, go to the local dealership's website (the one with the car you want), find the car, click "make an offer" and that will send your price to the internet sales manager. The Internet guy doesnt get commission he just needs to move cars fast to make room for more. Then once you agree on a price drive down and the dealer will honor the price.

IIRC, VIP pricing will get you less than invoice pricing.

I think that might be right. At any rate, that is a couple hundred less than I paid.

I think there may be an invoice and a 2%-under invoice program, depending on the corporate partner. And the VIP discount is taken out of SOA's pocket, not the dealer's... should be able to do just a little better than on your own. However, accepting VIP is at the dealer's discretion, which might be what jeeppsu85 was encountering.

(Or perhaps Subaru really IS changing the program... I could certainly see it on the limited production BRZ. It's possible the 2013 WRX/STI will be produced in smaller numbers too, depending on launch date of the all-new 2014, so it's not unreasonable to consider removing VIP there as well..)

I hope the VIP plan exists for a few more years. If the next WRX/STI is good, I plan to find a dealer out west along Route 66 that will honor it. Let them get the car, I'll fly out there and drive as much of Route 66 as I can on the way home. Can't think of a better way to break in a car.

The WRX and STI were indeed removed from the VIP program in May. At least on the VIP program that my employer has with Subaru.

SOA Blog,

http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/brz/static/compare.html

One of the Curb Weights published on the site (Exterior Dimensions) is incorrect for either the MT or the AT in the Limited trim.

It's known that the AT in this car is around 47lbs more than the MT.

Is the MT published too low, or is the AT published too high?

I do, IMHO, find it difficult to believe that the additions to the Limited over the Premium would only add 14lbs. (But would be cool if that's all it is, Heated seats, lights, spoiler, leather, etc... I think add up to more than 14lbs).

I can tell you this, as an autoxer, if I bought the limited, it would have been based on the weight being published as only being 14 lbs more, and wouldn't have bought it if it was ~75lbs more. I can overcome 14lbs of weight through driving compared to the Premium. No chance of overcoming 75lbs tho.

May want to fix that and am really curious as to which is wrong, because I'm seriously eyeing these.

Question Moonroof option pricing

SOA Blog,

Moonroof with backup camera option is priced at $995 for Legacy and $1445 for Outback. Why is it priced differently?

Outback still has a 2-pane sunroof that is about double the size of the Legacy sedan, right?

I didn't think you could get the camera on the Legacy that's probably the difference you're seeing unless there is a change for '13?
