Default 5x114 conversion options

I would like to have the option to choose from 5x114 wheels since there are a ton more options than 5x100. I dont mind replacing wheel bearings however. Is it possible to change my studs to 5x114 but retain my 5x100 hubs. I am interested in this mostly for cost effectiveness. I saw that 6gun offers a setup for converting 5x100 hubs to 5x114 while keeping the 5x100 bolt pattern. I figure if they can do this, I can do just the opposite. I'm sure I missed something, so please point it out to me.

project kics makes a spacer which converts your 5*100 to 5 114. I heard that the real conversion, which I am doing, to 05+ style, has better bearings and MOST importantly eliminates the problem of pad knockback after lateral g's. Can experts please chime in...
