Default Power steering fluid, manual tranny fluid, and rear diff fluid

Hey guys do you know which brand and type of power steering fluid, manual tranny fluid, and rear diff fluid for my car? And do you know where is the best place to get it with the best price? I gotta swap out these fluids soon. My power steering fluid smells like burnt electronics.

Make sure you check the manual... Subaru's use different fluids in different places than what you would normally expect

ie. don't use regular "power steering fluid", it'd be a costly mistake, check the owners manual...

I use "Uncle Scotty's cocktail" for (manual) transmission fluid (1 qt Redline Lightweight Shockproof, 1 qt GM synchromesh, rest 75w90 Castrol Hypoy-C), regular Redline stuff for the rear diff... Mopac has tonnes of Redline stuff

Besides Mopac does anyone else in Vancouver / North Van carry Redline transmission fluid?

I got some from Lordco 2 days ago and it was like $14-15 with the Vancouver Subaru Club discount. You have to ask them though because they don't have them on their shelf. They had to order them in for me apparently and it only took like a day.

Yeah I think my car uses dexron III ATF for power steering according to my owner's manual. I just want to know which brand is the best.

I didn't know either but I didn't want to go all the way to Langley just to buy a quart of Redline stuff so I went to Lordco to give it a shot. Fortunately they have it

dexron iii is pretty standard stuff... doesn't really make much difference between brand. if you want really good stuff you can use mobil syn atf, amsoil syn atf or dexron vi, where all of them will last longer than regular atf and has better anti oxidation property, price wise are also about double.

I heard from a lordco guy that Mopac is the local distributer... and that the redline bottle you get at lordco came straight from mopac's own inventory in Langley.

Useless (unsubstantiated) fact? You bet!

That probably means it's cheaper to get Redline stuff if you live near Langley.

Hahaha yeah I looked at the thread too and I bought the ingredients for Uncle Scotty's Cocktail. Hopefully it will turn out to be good like you said
