PWN3D HVAC problems

2005 2.5i manual outback with 64k miles, manual transmission. Lucky for me, my 60k warranty just expired.

Passenger side vents only blow cold air regardless of temperature set on the hvac controls. It occurs on any setting, but the driver's side is working fine. It spent the day at my trusted Subaru mechanic who is baffled and believes its an electrical problem. Due to the weather and my work schedule I haven't had time to dismantle the center console to take a look. Are these controls cable or vacuum operated?

The car does not have a cabin filter and was treated to a 60k service on Monday. The problem began Tuesday of this week and is driving my wife nuts. She now has to slum it in my TS to shuttle our little one around and I have to wear a jacket while driving the Outback.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
