Default Alpine Amp settings help please!!

I just recently installed 2 alpine amps and needed help setting up both, the MRP-M850 (Mono) and MRP-F450 (4-channel)

The following items needed adjusting on the Mono MRP-M850..

1. Gain -- at half it reads NOM and if you move it slightly up it reads .5v and can go as high as what would seem to be 1.5 and as low as -1.5.

2. Bass EQ -- As low as 0db and high as 12db. Right now it's around 8db

3. LP Filter -- It's at roughly 80hz.

Are these good settings? The sub just doesn't sound as loud as I thought it would be.

I have a Diamond Audio D6 (rated @ 600 watts rms @ 2ohms)

Should the sub be broken in?

Gain is not a volume knob. It is hard to hear distortion in subs however. If you have an aftermarket deck with 4V, I doubt you need any more than 1/2 gain on the amp. That .5V you see after the middle of the gain knob means .5V pre-outs. No deck I can think of has preouts that weak. So the gain should be a lot lower if you have 4V outs.

The next question is what ohms is your sub set up for. You need a 2 ohm load to get the most out of that amp. Then you can keep the gains low so you don't overpower your sub.

I wouldnt go any higher than 8dB bass boost, it just causes distortion anyway. If its not loud enough, you need more wattage. But I do like 4-6db bass boost in my own setups also.

80Hz LP is what I usually set my subs at. Looks like the amp has a good 24db slope crossover. Make sure you are not using the subsonic filter.

The sub is wired into 2ohm, that link is what I referred to run the wiring, the image all the way on the right.

And the deck actually has 2v pre-out put voltage. That really couldn't be the problem could it?

I just went and played with the deck, to see what I could adjust from my deck, the CDA-9883

It only has 3 settings...

Bass -- + 7 and selectable frequency from 60 - 120 hz

Treble -- + 7 and selectable frequency from 10.0 - 17.5

and HPF -- Off/80/120/160

I've set:

Bass -- +7 @ 60hz
Treble -- +7 @ 12.5hz
HPF -- 120hz

My sub amp has it's crossover at 80hz, does this conflict with my bass setting? The system sounds a lot better and gets louder at a lower volume number as well.

My rap music definitely has better low's then my alternative/pop music. This is probably normal at the frequency I'm playing at I assume.

No, I have another 4-channel hooked up too. I assume the HPF is only for the 4-channel/mids and highs right?

dood that 9883 has 3 RCA outs. As long as you're using the sub one for your sub amp. Looks like that deck doesnt have a LPF for the sub RCAs? Then you're ok. But 120Hz is way too high for your 4 main speakers. You have nothing between 120 down to 80 then. You do have your subwoofer RCA level on +15 right? Under the audio button.

This is what i have it at now...

Bass -- +7 @ 60hz
Treble -- +7 @ 12.5hz
HPF -- 120hz

Go read some high end car audio forums to start learning more about this stuff. These are a couple of my favorites:
