Angry Idle fluctuating at startup and at a roll! Fuel cutoff at 5k..

Hey everyone-

Im trying to figure out wat is wrong, i'm planning on taking my car to the dealership but i wanted to see if anyone might have an idea what the prob is?

CEL light is on but i haven't gotten it checked yet, it was on from before though because of the exhaust, never got the spacer for the o2 sensor.

When i start my car it starts off with a fluctuating idle btwn 1400-1900. It does it a few times and then drops down to about 1400 and stays constant which is higher than my normal idle. If im driving it on the road and im going above 35+ and i put the car in neutral while on a roll to a slow, the rpms drop but then start fluctuating until i slow down to about less than 20 miles then it just stays constant at 1400 again as if i wasn't moving.

The car also occasionally cuts off the fuel at about 5k. limp mode?

Anyone ever have this problem? Thanks for your help..

check the check engine light, a fouled o2 sensor can put the car in limp mode, shouldnt have fuel cut off. if o2 sensor went out your car will run rich

The wandering idle sounds a lot like a problem I had a month or two ago. My problem was the IACV on top of the throttle body. When the problem first occurred I was able to clean the IACV and it went away for about a month. When it came back cleaning no longer helped and I had to buy a new one.

First though get your code pulled.

K i just chcked the code, its the IACV for sure. Im going to try cleaning it, hopefully that fixes it cause i dont really have the $_$ to buy a new one.. just fkn crashed my car and had to buy a new jdm headlight and a bunch of other replacement crap... Is it bad to be temporarily driving it with the IACV all dirty? i think my gas milage went down a little though.. thats it.. tahnks for the help

yup, definitely get a new gasket. IACV is $215 from http://www.thekingofparts.com. The bolts are a good idea too but not necessarily mandatory (I was able to reuse the bolts, I was VERY careful when removing them).

Its really pretty easy to replace.

Whats more valuable to you? 30 minutes of your time or $215. It doesn't hurt to try cleaning it. I tried cleaning it first and it fixed it for about a month.
