Default Snokel Mod?

Ok, well i know this is FI forums but I am realy not sure where in heck this would go...moderators please assist if incorrect.

Well we all know about the snorkels used on the rally cars durring the sufari. Well I was thinking about making that mod on my car. And I have a lagit reason...
I do alot of offroading and it rains alot around Savannah GA.
My thought are when I go turbo(less then a month away) I have a less of a chance of hydrolocking my car if I do the snokel mod. Does anyone have a darn clue how to start this project? where I could look for info on how it is done ect ect...
besides it would look awsome..heehee (joke)

Buahahaha!
You've gotta be kidding, right?

There's more to prepping your car for extreme wet conditions like that than a snorkel. I seem to recall lengthy discussions on this subject between rally folk. You also have to waterproof your electrical systems more than they are, especially your plug wires and ignition system. The job is not necessarily expensive, just a bit of hard work. You'll soon realize just how many wires there are in an engine compartment.

It just isn't recommended for a car that spends most of its time on roads. Getting that much water into your engine compartment will ruin a lot of things over time. Waterproofing cruise control? Heating and air conditioning intakes? The rally cars on this side of the pond don't even bother, and the watercrossing at Susquehannock Trail ProRally is just as troublesome as those in the Safari rally.

I'll leave the raccoon jokes to the rest of the locals

I am not doing water crossing much. I am more talking about local puddles (IE 8complex was under boost and hit a big puddle and lost an engine because of it)
