they aren't plastic till 2008 (and are they even plastic for the N/A 2008's? i thought it was just the WRX/STi that had the plastic mani)

The gaskets are the SAME SHAPE at the port inlets and same bolt pattern. This is same for PHASE 2 2.2L/2.5L intake manifold gaskets. The only difference is the pins which the gaskets slides onto to keep them from moving.

HOWEVER, I do want to see the runners and how BIG they are. I want them to be big like the WRX.

If you can put the intake manifold gaskets on it, that'll help as well.

Kind of like the ones I took here. TOP is the WRX TGV section w/ the TGV deleted, bottem is 2.5L PHASE2 manifold; 2.2L PHASE2 is the same

The '06 intake manifold is nothing special. The '05-07 N/A EJ25s all use the same cast aluminum IM. I believe there were some '04 EJ25s (maybe only in the Legacy and Outback?) that used a plastic IM. I don't know about the new models.

AFAIK, the thought that the '05-07 IM is better than the other N/A manifolds is simply based on the fact that Irish Mike/TWE used that IM on their 300hp N/A race motor build. I've never seen any flow numbers or anything like that to compare the '05+ to the -'04 manifold(s). I think it's safe to assume that Irish Mike/TWE did their homework and used the '05+ IM for a reason.

Whether it would bolt to your EJ22, I don't know. I was under the impression (perhaps mistaken) that the EJ20 and EJ25 IMs were interchangeable (assuming the correct bolt pattern at the heads), but the EJ22 IMs were different. I could be wrong.

While I don't have any measurements for you, here's a pic of a N/A DOHC gasket on a '05-07 manifold, so that might give you some frame of reference.

I would say the runners are only slightly bigger than the EJ25D IM where they bolt to the heads - maybe a millimeter here or there?

Here's a phase 2 ej22 manifold for comparison.

Thanks guys,

Pat, do you have a pic of it without the gasket or maybe with a P2 EJ25 like cueball?

No straight-on shots without the gasket, and since I have P1 heads I only have the P1 gaskets.

What's required to put the '06 manifold on a '99-'03?
Because this would work beautifully with my ported EJ251 heads!!!!

Search for posts by SOLUTION about installing (or attempting to install) an '05+ manifold. The big issue was the IAC, I don't think he ever got it resolved.
