Default head bolts on 2.2, re-use or new

ok, second engine.... ready to put it back together, can i re-use the head bolts from the same engine (no problems) or are they of the streach bolt variety, and need to be replaced ?

thanks

I reused mine. They are still tightend down the SAME torque, it's the part where you do the 90* thing. I have reused mine 2 times on my WRX swap. Running 270whp-ish @ 18psi. I wouldn't reused them more than twice, IMO.

But if you feel insecure, buy new ones everytime.

your head warped?? It's uncommen for a Subaru head to warp or need shaving. ekkKKK

It wouldn't make a difference if it was shaved, you are still tightening the bolts to SPEC before you retighten them more via 90* sequences.

You could get some ARP headstuds. I understand that these don't stretch.

Just gotta dip 'em in some 30W oil and torque 'em down to 90 ft/lbs according to ARP's instructions
