It's a 2000 2.5rs, it hesitates until about 3000-3500 rpm them it runs fine. mods are headers back exhaust. Does anyone know what might cause this?
thanks Anthony

hesitates: with a load? no load(neutral), or both?

so no hesitation in neutral with out a load then?
I would lean towards checking the plugs, wires. Being that it (assuming) only does it under load in mid to low rpm I don't think it would be fuel related or sensor related. Many ignition issues will clear up as you get higher up in the rpm where the charging system is putting out a greater voltage. |

would a bad knock sensor cause something like this? I would check the tuneup, if it hasn't been done in a while. Check your air filter and fuel filter if it hasn't been done. The injectors could be dirty as well. How long has it been since you've adjusted the valves?

^^ yes it very well could. If the sensor is too sensitive and picking up some thing else it will cause it to pull timming until it gets past what ever rpm (i forget) the ecu switches from closed loop to open loop states.
edit: search functions great; "closed-loop below 58.04% Throttle up to 4000 RPM after which it automatically switches to open-loop." |
