going to buy some wheels and tires for my bugeye, help me decide...

I'm soon going to get some wheels for my WRB bugeye. I am looking for a lightweight track wheel that I will only use in the summer. Function is definitely more important than form, but I don't want to spend too much. I have always liked the Enkei rpf-1 wheels but am open to other options. Should I get gold or silver? Should I get 17" or 18"? Should I get 7.5" wide or 8" wide? With 8" wide wheels what is the widest tire I should/could run? I will be doing 2-3 HPDEs this year and probably a handful of SCCA events. The bimmer guys that I know all really like the Toyo RA-1 tires. I think there is a replacement for that tire this year... The last tires I bought were Falken Azenis. They seemed to heat up really quick and probably didn't have the best traction at HPDEs, but they also lasted me almost 2 years. As I said I won't be using these wheels in the winter, so I just need enough tread to last me through spring, summer, and fall and 2-3 HPDEs. Would RA-1s do the trick or would the tread wear out to quickly? Thanks for the help.

17x8.5 with 245/40/17 or 255/40/17...don't even look at anything narrower than 8".

start with a set of re-01rs or dunlop direzza sport z1s.

I'd go with a 17x8 w/ 235/40/17's for the gearing at autox, 17x8.5 w/ 245/40/17 for the grip at HPDE. RE01R's are great for autox but not as good for HPDE.
