hmmm i wish i could help, but my buddy had an airbag light come on in his car one time, and about 2 hours later the airbag deployed while driving, causing an accident.

i would take it directly to the dealer, unless someone else has any suggestions

I think it means the that the airbag system needs servicing... check with your dealer. Assuming you mean the red light in the instrument cluster and not the 2 stage light for the passenger airbag?

Take it to the dealer - that indicates a malfunction in the airbag system.

Something worth trying. It's not uncommon for the plug under the seat to get corroded and loose contact. First thing to try is to unplug and plug it back in. That alone might help. Happened to a lot of people including myself not too long ago.

This TSB is for the Forester but I've seen it happen in other scoobies too:

You could have a dealer check it but you're most likely out of warranty, so they'll charge you for the diagnostic time as well as the repair. OTOH it may not be something you can repair on your own anyway.
There is a diagnostic procedure you can follow in the service manual, which involves connecting the diagnostic plugs and watching the flashes of the airbag light to get the code. This can point you to the cause.

I would try this first. I would definitly disconnect the battery first and let the car sit for s few minutes before you unplug anything. never unplug any srs connectors with the battery connected, It can cause the airbag to deploy

Someone with a service manual, tell us how to put the SRS system into service mode. I know how to do it with an Infinity, not Subaru
