Default where's my CEL?

i'm kinda happy that my CEL went away, but i just don't know why.

I got a CEL about 2 months ago. I never got it checked (since the car ran fine) and I assumed it was b/c my borla headers.

A couple of days ago, I did an oil change and then plugged my daytime driving lights back on (i unplugged them b/c i had hids a while back and never bothered to plug it back in). after that, i drove a little and noticed that my CEL went away.

so....i'm lost now. lol. can anybody figure out what happened? was it possible that the header didn't set off the CEL? or do CELs just disappear after a while?

it really depends on which cell it was. it could have just been the gas cap loose one and finally reset it.
next time get it checked

The CEL comes on when the ECU finds a fault. If the fault doesn't show up again for a certain number of on/off cycles, the CEL will turn off. I forget what the number of on/off cycles is... it might be six or 10. So if the ECU doesn't detect that fault for the next six or 10 times you turn on/shut down the car, the CEL goes off. The computer still remembers the fault, however. At least I think so.

you can still get the code read to see what it was. even though the cel went out, the code should still be stored.
