about to get car tuned stage 1 07 sti in cali wanted to change to sny. oil before i take in for tune. i have been planning on using royal purple for the last 11000 miles but today i read the subaru oil thread and it said some things negative about royal purple not being approved for subaru warranty or something . so basically just wondering what everyone runs miles on your cars and what oil you reccomend i can get royal purple for 7 bucks a quart and havent seen much redline aound .

Yea royal purple isn't in an approved class of oil or some bs like that. Something about the phosphorus levels?
I use german castrol and its runs great, still very clean when I change oil at 3k miles. |

Do a search in this forum with Royal Purple and the Redline in the subject line and you will find 256,590,875 posts.
![]() RP xw30's have a tendency to shear. I would use RP 5w40 in a tuned WRX in So. California, or Redline 10w30 or 5W40. Do a used oil analysis to determine the appropriate oil change interval. Doing a search with "Redline" should show you a result of a recent uoa on RL 5W40. RP is API certified and RL is not. However, do you have a powertrain warranty anyway? ![]() -Dennis Last edited by bluesubie; 03-07-2008 at 04:43 PM. |

i just changed my tranny oil from dino to redline it feels great. that sti 6 speed though needs the lsd additives . research it man but in my opinion its all about the redline.they make the stuff you need . i was having an issue with the 5 speed , when cold first to 2nd would grind , syncros not lining up / slowly like real slow, but the redline has the 5 speed feelin sweet. smooth engadgement. you must shift like insane with a 6 speed i would definatly say you want the redline esspecially living in so cal and summer comin up. plus redline wont void your warentee not that any dealer really honors it anyway.
