Default US STi

Will the US version of the STi have gold wheels? Or will it be "toned down?"

Nobody knows for sure, but my guess is that we will get something very similar to the European version.

I say we worry whether or not it even comes here, more than what features it'll have.

Nothing is set in stone...so as much as we like to assume it'll be here...don't count your chickens...

I have counted the chicken that says it is coming here. It truly is, I do believe.. hopefully the sti comes as stated....shame it won't be here sooner or I'd get one over a rex. The car I'm selling is not a winter car at all and would be destroyed nursing it to that point. I gotta sell my ol pickup this spring.

so therefore we would have a new-bodied sti.

the sti is supposebly coming out (stateside) in '03 as a '04 model (who knows when).

the redesign should be in effect for the '03 model year. pending no delays by prodrive that is.

so, everyone else should already have the new design and we will get the new bodied sti (and wrx). that should leave a total of 2 model years with the current style. i don't imagine it would be difficult to switch to the new look since it is supposed to be based on the same core car (that is, only the panels / bodywork should change).

of course, who knows until it happens.

Um.....it will have to run on 91 octane and how in the hell is it going to make better mileage than a normal WRX? Top Gear in a recent test got 15mpg out of their WRX STi. Albiet they probably drove it a bit aggressivly.

Our 91 Octane has a RON rating of 98. It runs on 95 RON in the UK, so...

JGard - I was going to say the same thing. That looks like the UK official press release. The mpg is probably Imperial Gallons vs. U.S. Gallons.

This thread is supposed to be about the GOLD WHEELS. Do you think that Subaru of America will try to sell the car here in the states with the gawdy wheels.

Yes they are gawdy and yes I like them too!

Will it have gold wheels??I think so, the people who want to buy this car want it as close to what the rest of the world gets.. And they look good on the blue and white ones...haven't seen pictures of the wheels on other colors.

it would bet $ that the US STi's DO NOT get gold wheels. most peepz in the US would be like "wth? gold wheels?" everyone i tell that i'm gettin gold rims say i'm crazy and that would be ugly. Gold rims just dont seem to appeal to the US market i guess.

Subaru has sold Imprezas with gold wheels here in the past, don't know why they wouldn't in the future.

SOA is currently trying to sell the "Rally-Inspired" nature of the car, and increasing awareness of Pro-Rally and the WRC. The blue and gold is very much a part of that.

When I get my STI, it'll be blue and gold.

Default gas mileage

I'd guess that the AVCS would help gas mileage. Tweaking an engine doesn't always lower fuel economy - the new 405HP Vette Z06 gets slightly higher mileage than last year's Z06, IIRC. Of course, these are EPA figures, so who knows how real world mileage will look.

Thumbs down All that glitters is not gold

IMHO, the gold wheels are what changes the look of this car from a rally car to a junior-high r1cer.

Despite the fact that all of the Rally cars both in the US and abroad have always used use gold wheels? If they bring over the STi, it WILL have gold wheels.
