Default Air Bag light is on

I have an 04 WRX i got used a little while ago. Somedays the airbag light is on and stays on during driving, somedays it stays off.

It hasn't done it lately, but in case it does start happening again, what does it mean/what should I do?

Somebody else posted a reply to a similar issue experienced by another Subbie owner. In that post, the replying poster mentioned that his friend experienced a similar issue, and the airbag eventually deployed while driving, causing an accident. I would definately get that looked at by a dealer.

The airbag light is just like the check engine light, when it comes on it means that a problem has been detected by the airbag control module and a diagnostic code stored. The code can be read either by a dealer using their scanner, or by you using the diagnostic procedure in the service manual where you connect the diagnostic plugs together and count the flashes of the airbag light. Once you have the code the proper troubleshooting procedures will pinpoint the problem.
