Default Used (cheap) DOT race tires in Cent FL

Wondering if there is a used tire dealer with race tires in Central FL (Orlando - Daytona)

I plan to autocross my 2005 Forester XT 2-3 times a year in D-stock, but since I don't run but a couple times a year I can't justify a new set.

Looking for a full set (4 tires), something like 225/50-16
  • Kumho ECSTA V710
  • Hoosier A6
  • BFGoodrich g-Force R1
  • Toyo Proxes R888
I also wouldn't mind a super lite (12#) set of wheels, but they must be 'stock sized' 16x6.5 et48

Thanks in advance

try calling bob woodman tires, i know a lot of the racers with HSR aand other clubs leave used tires with them. I dont know if they recycle them or what they do, but i always see used tires next to the bob woodman trailer.

also expans your search to toyo proxes ra-1. the r888s are brand new so unlikely to be found used and they also only come in like two sizes of 16s.

Also look into the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R

GREAT auto-x tire as well!

Thanks for the leads... more is better!

The RE-01R & RE-92 are fine for STX & STU which requires "street tires", but one of the nice things about 'stock' class is that you can run much stickier race tires that are not allowed in STX & STU. Race tires (and a decent driver) can save a second or two over any street tire.

SSR makes super light wheels, but the rules require I run wheels that are 'stock' size and offset (16x6.5 for the 2005 FXT). I have some STi BBS for daily use.

16x6.5 would weigh even less than 11 lbs..

I was really just playing with Matt, the RE92's are sort of a joke around these parts.

I've bought no less the five pairs of used r-comps over the years. I found most of them locally but www.sccaforums.com is also a good place to find them.

^ Oh good... I hated the RE92As that came on the Saabaru. But there are many tires worse than the 92. I currently have "Goodride" brand tires on the FXT thanks to the previous (cheap) owner.

I've seen several sets of tires trade hand during auto-x events, and will add sccaforums to my hunt. thanks

best deal here is the F200 Slick @ only $108, that's usually a $230 tire. but not legal in stock. the 210/610 size is pretty close to a 225/45-16

http://tinyurl.com/3ctx65

But the 225/50/16 D.O.T. Z214 is pretty cheap too. and they are in the C70 auto cross compound.

But a C70 slick is going to be another second faster then the D.O.T. tire if you can run them in your class. and $200 less a set.

^ the prices are good... need to investigate if they're allowed

what I should do it get myself in a few (Evolution type) driving classes...

I'm kinda looking ahead to the Subaru Challenge (Gainesville). I co-drove my buddy's Saabaru the last two years but he's selling it now. (We took 1st & 4th in STX, mostly do to his setup).

go to sebring one weekend

check out Chin Motorsports, NASA, PCA (suncoast or goldcoast), or PBOC. I run events with all of them. More expensive than autoX, but much more seat time and much more instruction,
