Default Cheap Backup Laptop while IBM T60 is being fixed?

The mainboard on my IBM/Lenovo T60 seems to be on its way out and I plan to send it in to at least get checked out. However, my work requires that I can't be without a laptop.

I need a cheap (sub-$400 or even less), durable, portable laptop for word processing/email/internet research.

I'm looking on Ebay at IBM T30's for $250-$300. I want something similar to my T60 (no-nonsense, business machine). Is the T30 a good choice? Any other ideas?

I've used thinkpads from 94 through current.
Bulletproof machines with no frills.

Any thoughts on TigerDirect's "Off-Lease" laptops? They are selling T42's with a 12 month warranty for $500. Good deal?

Lenovo Depot only takes about a week at the most. Just borrow one from a friend.

Yes.

Or the Cloudbook, which has an HDD but is uglier and comes with a crappier OS.

But you might be able to install Teh Lunix on the Cloudbook.

Really the OS ( 2000/xp/vista) is up to you. Call them and say " I want this with XP PRO "
