Default My baby is injured

Mercedes stopped, I stopped, 1979 Chevy truck towing a boat did not.

Trunk floor is warped, 2 months old though so hopefully won't be a total loss.

maybe it's not that it "did not stop"...I would guess it "couldn't" stop being such an old truck towing a boat.

hope it can get repaired...or totaled so you can just get a new one!!

That's what you get for leaving the dealership license plate frame on. The guy in the chevy was just trying to help.

I've never had an accident, only moved to the US in April so not sure what to expect from it all.

This makes me sad. Sorry bud, this totally blows. Save the flaps for your next ride. In this type of situation you kind of wish it is totaled, who knows if it will ever drive the same.

My 01 prelude 5 speed (dd) was rear ended by a police officer a couple of years ago when it was my only car and completely my baby. It will always be slightly off in the rear as far as the alignment of the panels, but I still drive that car everyday and its incredibly beautiful and drives like a dream, nobody would ever know it was in a wreck. So if you get it fixed dont let it ruin your perception of the car. That being said you should probably hope for a total loss so you arent stuck with a wrecked one with a possibly branded title. At least you are ok! I am very sorry for your loss op you have my condolences. I hope you end up flipping this around into some type of positive. Best of luck.

Based on the trunk floor being bent and the rear slam panel being completely folded I'm going to hazard a guess it'll be a total loss. Not much I can do I guess.

That is absolutely a bit light. That won't ever restore the car back to perfection, and probably is priced for the worlds cheapest paint job.

I'm taking it to my own place, known for being expensive but working on high end cars, ferraris etc.

My own insurance company estimate $3800 which is even lower... oh well, the body shop will just keep billing his insurance company until I think it's perfect

I think the reason the bill stayed below $10k is because the rear quarters didn't get damaged.

New trunk, new bumper, new bumper beam , new rear panel and everything back to normal.

Also little color difference from the paint job won't be noticeable because the rear quarters didn't get touched.
