Picked up a 05 STi and want to start modding it. I had a 03 WRX and traded it and I've been out of the loop for awhile now. Now that I'm back in the game I need some direction on which way to head.
I"m not looking to make crazy numbers like some guys are. I want something that is streetable as I don't drag race or road race. The car at this point is 100% stock. The exhaust I plan to use is the Blitz Nur Spec, I had it on my WRX and loved the sound it made. Being that I'm in NC I can be at TopSpeed in Atlanta in no time so I would most likely have them do any tuning that would need to be done. So may turbo's to choose from now I'm not quite sure which to go with. I'm very close to Deadbolts location so I can actually drive and pickup a turbo. Just not sure which one to go with. I want something that spools quick and gives me good low and mid power. Like I said I'm not looking to make huge numbers.

If that's your car's true purpose, try a "stage 2" upgrade and see how you like it. Get a full exhaust and some form of engine management to utilize it and see how you like it. a tuned STI with exhaust is quite fun and with a custom tune is downright awesome for around town driving. If you want more, a 20G turbo is "the" upgrade. Consider it like the VF30 for your old WRX...it's the go to turbo for the STI. Also remember to talk to your tuner and Jerry as their advice will be best. Spend time choosing an engine management as you want something for now or if the upgrade bug hits you...follow TopSpeed's advice here.

+1, Very well said!
Speaking as a tuned Stg II, with TBE, intake, and AP, the car is very fun to drive around town. Going from stock to Stg II feels like a whole new car IMO. In addition, after basic Stg II, you could go the following route if you want more down the road: uppipe w/dump tube by, Grimmspeed *cough*cough*, fuel pump, injectors, aquamist, meth, and probably some one step colder spark plugs. Just to name a few. Hope that helps. |

Cobb Accesport v2 and a bellmouth downpipe like an invidia is generally the route people go with.
Good luck. |

Things have changed so much since then I'm starting back from scratch to learn whats best out there now. I know I want to go with the Blitz just because I loved the sound, and the Cobb Accessport just for the simple plug and play setup that it does. |

I had 02 stage4 wrx until 2005, and just picked up 2005 sti, and it's 100% stock as well. I'm also thinking about doing stg2 in near future after I do all the red interior mods and few exterior mods. GL with your mods ![]() |

Thanks, I'm slowing looking at parts. I'm trying to keep cost down so I'm scouring the used forums in search of most of my mods. Some I will have to buy new, but I think I can get everything I need to get to Stg II used.
