Default Steering Wheel CLICK

I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another. Drove to work and out to lunch today..... no problem. Get in the car to come home and backing out of my space, the steering wheel kept clicking as I turned the wheel. It is definitely IN the car, not a cv joint or anything. So yeah, it just goes, "click, click-click-click." It's kind of like the sound and feel when your wheel lock engages/disengages.

Any ideas?

More info: obviously does it more at slow speeds as it is harder to turn the wheel. Example, turning left onto a street vs. turning left into my driveway. More clicky at lower speeds. And.....b/c it's bound to come up, no hard turns or running into curbs, off-road adventures, or otherwise. This is a DD that enjoys some spirited driving from time to time and hopes to be a track monster when he get's all growsed up!

I knew this would end up here......sitting all alone.........not being seen. :P

Seriously though, got under the car and it DEFINITELY is INSIDE the car. What the heck could it be?

Does it only happen when you are moving, or does it click while stationary and turning the wheel?

Possibly something with the steering wheel lock screwing up?

Is your PS fluid full?

fluid is good. happens while moving and it did it when I had it in the air last night. It is weird. When I had it in the air, it ONLY clicked going left. It seems it is primarily when I cut it left but on the way to work this a.m., it did it turning right a little too.

Everything under the car is fine. I just worry that the wheel lock could come on while I'm driving! How probable is that?
