Question Repair Manual for ~98 Impreza Outback? Advice anyone?

My heater core has sprung a leak and only 5 weeks after the extended warranty on my used wagon expired. I went to eBay and got what I thought to be a Service/Repair manual on CD.

Today, like a kid at x-mas I stood by the mailbox in wait. Heavens be praised! THE MAILMAN COMETH! I ripped open the package and ran to my 'puter thinking "Oh Golly! Now I can learn how to repair my beloved Wagon!"

Much to my disdain I was incorrect, this is just the Service manual offering The Nick no assistance repairing the stupid cracked heater core in question.
However if anyone wants a ton of wiring diagrams, look me up

The Quest:
Searched online (for what feels like the 100th time) .... Haynes - they only have Legacy manuals (that i could find) .... Chiltons? The nearest repair manual I can find there end's in '96.

Frankly, I'm put off by eBay and my nearest Subaru Dealership done me wrong when last I talked to them, inquiring about keyless entry fobs for my keyless entry unit. They said "There's no such thing as keyless entry for a 1998 Impreza. You sir, are inept"

The Question:
Will a ~96 Impreza service manual work? Will this help Nick swap out the used and abused dirty heater core for one that's wondrous and new-ish??
I'm reluctant to just start buying any and all service manuals i can find unless one of them would work.

Help!!

Go there, pay the $34.95 subscription fee and download the correct manuals for YOUR car direct from the source.
Be aware, however, that replacing a heater core is a labor-intensive procedure that requires taking much of the dash apart. It's not for the casual or inexperienced DIY-er. If you fall into this category it's best to have a shop do it, although it will not be a cheap repair.

I dont know about your Library system in Salem OR, but our system in Columbus has most auto repair manuals in at least one Library in the city. All our Libraries have the more general 5" thick (green in color I think) multi make import Chilton repair manuals in the reference section?

Mulder - I think I'll check out mikey's suggestion regarding the library before getting the subscription. I'm kinda sad I honestly forgot about that option :/ The good news is I've taken my fair share of dashboards apart professionally

mikey - again thanks for the library suggestion and that link. I'm sure my weekend will be very productive

Thanks for the quick posts both of you!!
