Ok, I've been doing alot of research lately on axle-back muffler sections for the WRX, and these seem a little overpriced. I'm pretty sure I just want an axle-back setup for now, for a little sound increase and any performance gains that might go with it (although small). The cheapest I've seen is ~$350, which is kindy pricely when you figure that R&D is rather minimal with an axleback. I can buy a very HQ SS muffler for $75 and a SS tip for $25. I would like to make the whole axle-back SS and mandrel-bent, but none of the local exhaust guys carry the stuff so I have to buy it at Summit. My question is what degree radius mandrel bends do I need and how long is the straight section (I'm pretty sure it's no bigger than 18")? Also, is there a welding rod material that doesn't corrode and mates easily with SS. Last question is where can I buy the rear flange (do they make SS flanges?) and what kind of flange is it (2 bolt or 3 bolt)? Thanks for any input.
