Default Deceleration noise similar to WRX

My car is a Liberty (Legacy outside Australia) RX 2.5 manual. Relating to a deceleration noise in the drivetrain. Following is an excerpt from a letter to Subaru Australia October 2001.
"The day I took delivery of the car around 12 months ago I noticed a noise in the clutch when depressed, which subsequently was booked in the following days to replace the clutch plate, pressure plate and bearing (refer your doc #XXXXX).
Recently, the car was booked in 4 October (2001) to replace the viscous coupling (refer you doc #XXXXX) after I noticed noise and irregular feedback from the drive train. The "locked" viscous coupling appeared to me putting a huge strain on the drive train when the steering was turned, so much so that if turned to full lock on my driveway, the car would sit there without need for brake or handbrake to be applied. Considering the slope of my driveway, quite incredible.
I booked the car in for the first available date 4 October. I picked the car up on 4 October as arranged and it felt perfect to drive, but shortly after leaving your service centre I could smell burning gearbox oil. I checked under the bonnet and sure enough there had been a spillage - no major drama. On the Saturday morning I did my usual check of all important fluid levels and found the gearbox level not registering on the dipstick. I had gearbox oil at home but upon reading the owners' manual it suggested not to mix different oils "Never use different brands together". So I called and spoke to the service dept where the repair had occured. I ended up filling the gearbox to the suggested level by adding an incredible 700mls (1.2 pints)of oil.
Since these events I have noticed that the clutch appears to have a minor shudder. The other is a noise from the drive train generally noticeable in 4th / 5th gear around 60-100km/h (35-60mph) upon decelerating a noticeable noise from the drivetrain. If the clutch is depressed the noise stops instantly and returns upon the clutch being released again."

I was asked to return the car to the service centre where the repair occured, it has been back twice and I have been told both times that there is a known noise wth WRXs and there is no fix for it, but not to worry. I am also told by the foreman that my Subaru was only the 2nd Subaru since he has worked for Subaru to replace a faulty - locked viscous Coupling. The noise only appeared after the viscous coupling problem, but they are trying to tell me the two are not related. I then come to this website and find the following information
Deceleration Noise WRX [i] and also Deceleration noise #2

Today I have contacted my Subaru dealer and I explained all the info I had found here on the WRX problem and he said "oh you mean Garra-garra noise (whatever that means)" and said yes they are aware of the WRX problem and has booked the car for a test drive with a rep from Subaru head office for a test drive in a week, I will come back and advise the outcome.

In the meantime, has anyone else with a Liberty / Legacy had similar problems? Any help for this newbie would be appreciated,
Tim

Thumbs up update

Update: The area rep from Subaru Australia drove the car today and said yes it is identical to the 'Garra' WRX noise. He contacted the tech dept at Subaru Australia and they have advised is the second occurance known here in Australia, a few weeks ago an Outback was worked on for the same problem.
My car is booked next week for a new clutch, bearing, and dual plate flywheel from a 2002 Liberty (Legacy) the 2001 unit for Liberty cars are not a dual plate unit, this apparently appears to have fixed the Outback with the same problem as mine.
Heres hoping and thank you to this site where I was able to quote the WRX deceleration noise.
Keep up the good work
Tim

Next week I should have part numbers available if there is interest to anyone, email me
