Maybe you should try the Magnus manifold and let me know how it works!

Or wait a year for AMS's peice.

By the way, I take back what I said before about the Perrin headers. I do think that they hold you back on making power.

Either way, good luck! Just keep this thread updated so we can learn from what you are doing.

You cant have an AC if u use a 80mm TB.. plus i have manual air conditioning. Well thats what is says in the japanese subaru brochure.. hahahah

I was looking at a magnus but the TB is too small. I want to stick with an 80mm TB.. Im not waiting a year to have the car off the road.. ahaha

Why do u think the headers are holdingthe power back now and not previously???

im looking into mani options atm so something will eventuate in the near future.

I think they hold the power back because I have them and another guy here doesn't. He's got the GT-Spec header and makes more power up top than me. Of course he has a Magnus manifold also....

I'm about ready to make the jump to the GT-Spec, I've lost count of money spent at this point in the game!! hahaha!!!

EDIT - Won't Magnus make one with a bigger flange for your TB???

Thats not a real comparison as ur setups arent the same.. hahah

The GT spec headers have the same diameter primaries so going to them wont help at all imo.. If u want to go for bigger primaries then get a set of full race headers...

I havent spoken to magnus about the mani. But im sussing out some other options or may just use the standard mani with a larger plenum...

stupid question:

have you checked to make sure the throttle plate is opening all the way?

Like, use the pedal, not just your hand. Seen it.....causes headaches!

Edit: I'm getting confused with your build and that HKS t04z build! aaaahhhhhhh

it's true, most people, including me........envy this setup.

FWIW, my dad used to race circle track.......we ran 3 races with the throttle only at 3/4 and had previously gone through the motor cause he could feel the lack of power (comparatively). It was the wreck 4 weeks prior, that bent the solid pedal linkage.

it's a stupid thing to not check......but it's so simple that it's often overlooked.

good luck!

hahahaha thanks mate..

Yeah ill will definately check to make sure that the throttle plate wasnt damaged. But i think the weak mani saved me from any real damage...

Thanks, I didn't realize they were the same diameter. It sure doesn't LOOK like they are.

I was gonna go for the full race setup. But then Geoff let me know that he doesn't sell the headers, only the whole turbo kit.

Now that I know about the header diameters it makes me want an intake manifold that much more!

Thats weird as i got a quote for the headers a few months back when i was up in the air deciding on my course of action. They wouldnt make money if they only sold a complete kit as ppl have wide and varied setups...

As for the headers im pretty confident that they are the same atleast i was told so. But you could always measure then from someone to be 100% sure..

Well all I know is that I'm sitting here anxious to see what a different manifold is going to do for you!

I'll do some measuring on the headers the next time I have the car apart. Which will be late this fall unless something catastrophic happens. And I'll probably give Geoff a call back and see if I can work something out with him. It's a bummer when someone like me already has the turbo, fittings, and 2 wastegates ya know.

I have the Magnus on my T04Z build with an 80mm throttle body. This did require some fab work on the Magnus but it worked out fine.

Then again I am not making the power that this turbo should produce so who knows ?

So sorting out a few things whilst the car is off the road i.e intake manifold, wiring etc...

But have taken the TGVs off the heads and here are some pics of the intake ports. Not much done to them imo, how do they compare?? I wonder if this could be some sort of restriction as they are 2.0ltr turbo heads??

^^^

They are 04 STI aussie spec 2.0ltr heads, small port i believe...

Also running 1mm cosworth oversize intake and exhaust valves... So the ports should have been opened up to suit i would have thought??

these are the cam specs

Intake Duration: 278 Degrees Intake Lift: 10.74mm Exhaust Duration:274 Degrees Exhaust lift: 10.0mm.

Did you have them degreed? Lots of people on here say that the only reliably accurate cams are JUN.
