So, I love the 03 Lgt bumper, the one that looks kinda open in the bottom. I also love the price of the 2000 Lgt limited I'm looking at right now. So the question is... will the bumper bolt up, or do I need a new support. I've had some experience with this with my old impreza and trying to fit an RS bumper, which required the whole beam. I don't want to do that, because it simply is not cost effective. Please help me, and probably some others.

Default 03 Legacy SE bumper

I think you should be fine with the fit.. I actually have a slightly damaged 03 bumper if you are looking for one.. helped fix a friends 03 SE wagon and we replaced it with the Outback bumper for the foglights.. It fit fine without having to get a new bumper beam.

Let me know

As long as you're not talking about JDM stuff, I don't see any problems.

Unfortunately my 01 beam was snapped off on the passenger side, I replaced it with a '03-'04 beam when I did the newer cover, but in doing it the way I did everything bolts up, only thing is since the wheel well guards go under the bumper a little, fitting is was kinda strange but not hard whatsoever.

And to get the newer foglights to plug in I had to mess with shaving down the male plug some too, again, not too difficult.

EDIT - If it wasn't for the front lip I got, I would have considered a outback front cover setup.

Yes, an 03 cover will directly fit on a 01 bumper beam. The energy absorber (styrofoam between the cover and beam) is different, however. You might be able to modify yours to fit, with a 03 - 04 energy absorber it is a "bolt" on. To complete the job you'll also need to get 03-04 fog light covers and tow hook cover.
