Question 2.5 RS Manual Doughnuts

I was wondering if it is possible to do a doughnut in a 2.5 rs on dry or even wet land. I have a place (not on city or public property) I want to try one out on. I have a large place of pavement or grass to do it in so no one (including myself) will get hurt. How is this achieved with awd 50/50 ratio. I have a video of a driver (looks like a rally wrx)doing it.
Thanks
Chris

I wouldn't even consider about trying that if I were you, especially on pavement. Do it on snow. Rally WRXs got enough power and structual strength to make dounuts faily easily.

The reason why you shouldn't try it with your RS is because you can actually hurt drivetrain really quickly. Say hello to new tranny, clutch, diffs.

Not with 165hp. AND, I've seen better donuts in AWD. The one I saw was in some WRC video. I do not know how but the driver had his rally car spinning around the center of the car. It was like some one placed a virticle pole through the roof and to the gound. The car just spun horizonally on a cobble stone road. Simple amazing.

Thumbs up

Best time/place to do AWD doughnuts is of course in the snow/ice. When it dumped snow in Vancouver this year, my buddies and I went up to my university's parking lot. We picked a large and empty parking lot, away from parked cars. There were other vehicles trying to play too, (i.e. civics, pick-ups, sport utes, etc.), but they weren't having as much fun as I was!

I could get my car to do doughnuts around the inside front wheel! It was awesome! I had to stop occasionally to clear snow off of my side windows! Couldn't see through the snow!

Too bad we didn't have a video camera to take a video of my goings-on! It would have been awesome! Oh well, next year sometime!

LaterZ!
Darren!!

Thanks gang. I didn't even think of the damage it could cause. I'll save it for another car I don't care so much about...like a $100 Honda. You have to admit it would be fun in a scooby.
I have kicked the rearend out a few times taking off in the rain from a stop on a right hand turn (done on deserted road away from people). Could this cause any problems other than shedding some rubber?
Thanks again for the info.
Chris

P.S. oh yeah here is a link for a web-site i'm working on for a local club here in Cincinnati OH. Tell me what you think. SpyClub

Hey Charge (Neil), we live near each other. Surprised I haven't seen you around. Where did you by your RS. I bought mine at Subaru of Beechmont. Great place.
Is the dj you are thinking of Zack Wilson. He used to DJ there but quit. You should go on fridays. My friend Geoff Gulley spins...he rocks. Good croud too.

Brainwalker, I think what you mentioned about the right turns from a stop can hurt your CV joints. I HAVE done 1 donut in a bone dry parking lot with my AUTOMATIC transmission. I write about it in another post. If you want I'll find it and copy over how I did it. This was on RE92's with probably about 6-7k miles on them, not very worn. I don't think I would try that again, the car does not like it.
